I have some things that I'd like to make glow, like my FRS radios, only problem being I don't want to use something that will easily fall off, as in glow tape...

I looked at Alien skin but it's thick I hear and it sticks on...

I think I need something painted on. I don't have a lot of $$ to spend but I don't need something that lights up a room, just a subtle glow in night time darkness (Read: A tent) is all I ask.

Am I asking too much?

I've read a bit about trasers/glow rings and as best I can tell they'd be fine enough for what I'm doing. Like I said I am not trying to read from them...I just want to be able to spot my FRS/Flashlight/Whatever in the dark while I'm out camping.

**Edit**
I'd be more than happy to buy some poweder and paint it on...jsut don't know how much poweder I need, what kinds of paints I can use etc etc.

Sounds like you need some glow powder.

Have a read through this topic - you should find everything you need..

Mr Glow might be able to give you some pointers, if he's around..

Happy Glowing!

Search some back threads such as "Long Lasting Luminosity" for some background info.

Still got e-mails coming in from the last "small" group buy

So is it a big deal to use EXTRA? Somone said use like 3.5 grams for a jar of Testors paint, but could I logically just buy 5 grams and dump all 5 in? Would it clump or anything? Everyone suggests clear...does it have to be clear? what if I did clear against black plastic...would it still glow ok?

Ok one more question...you mention think like laquer based nail polish, whats the easiest way to tell? You answer these questions and I will figure the rest out from other posts...if not I'll just ask.

Did I mention CPF is great??

My industrial suppliers do NOT recommend using anything but a clear base (lacquer OR oil-based polyurethane), and no concentration of more than 30-35% or so. -Otherwise you'll wind up with a gloppy paint that won't go on smoothly and evenly-and won't even glow well

edit: todays much more powerful pigments will easily show application flaws -after 2 or 3 minutes of glowing. So evenness of application becomes a big deal.

Cool, ok, I am going to go for it...I'll let you know how it turns out.
