Looks wike CBP have a stock of new cells called IB2000 AA which they claim out performs CBP 1650's with a longer duration time and with commercial button tops.

I have a set on order for my Mag 85 - Can't wait to see the results :)

Hello Tim,

I wonder if they will match, or exceed, the performance of the Titanium Power Max 1800 cells...

If their claims prove to be the case and they perform better than the 1650's and if they really do have 2000mAh - then these ought to be the king of AA high current cells.

My experience of intellect sub-C's is very good so hopefully these will be as good.

Hopefully CBP will be sending some for you to test

Any update on these? I'm about to do my first ROP mod and I'm wondering if these would make a good choice?

Ralls,

Just posted my first impressions in the AA battery shootoput thread Here.

Would love to see one of SilverFox's test graphs comparing them to the likes of The PowerMax 1800 and CBP's 1650

My impression is that these are excellent cells for hotwire mods....and should hold their own with any of the latest and greatest.

I am really impressed with the performance hike I got in my Mag85 with these cells.

Give em' a go.

Tim.

Will they fit 4 wide in a unbored D size Mag body that's not black or are they too fat like regular 2500-2700maH consumer grade cells?

The latest 1650 cells are slim enough to fit four wide.

Don't know about that.....I dont have a battery carrier that holds cells in that configuration.

They do fit in the FM 9AA to 3D carrier quite easily without any torn wrapper issues.

Thanks a lot Tim! It is definitely down to either these or the Titanium 1800's. I am now deciding what charger to buy...Titanium TG2800 or Maha C800S?

I just ordered some of the IB2000 cells and I hope that they arrive Monday or Tuesday. I'm still awaiting the arrival of my 3AA to 2D adapters from LITEmania, as well.

I'm so excited to try out my new 2D ROP...just need the batteries and adapters. Then I'll keep my fingers crossed that the bulb doesn't explode!

I received 12 of these about 2 weeks ago to replace the CBP 1650's in a hot driver equiped Mag 138. The CBP's just could not hold the 13. 2v required by the 62138.

The result? A blown FET in the hot driver after about 20 seconds of operation. This can only mean that they hold voltage very well and I had too much overhead on the driver.
The hot driver has been sent back to AWR for an overhaul, I am wondering now if I should back off to 11 cells in the pack.

I just received 6 of these cells for my 2D Mag ROP and they are performing fabulously. I inserted them hot off the charger and nothing but beatiful, bright light! What a cool and easy mod. I highly recommend these cells, although I have no experience with the CBP1650's so I can't compare.

It looks like we're all having good experiences with these cells.

It's amazing what the right batteries for the job can do. :)

There are only a handfull of AA cells up to the job of a real hot-wire lamp....These would appear to be such a cell.

I just ordered 12 for my mag85. I always order a few spares. I can't wait to get them.

I have toasted a few 1111's with these hot off the charger!

Bill

So they should stand up to the high current needs of my application :)

How they do when rested?

Dang, still out of stock! I want to try these in my camera flash(Canon 550EX), I know the titanium 1800's outperform common NiMHs(duracell et al.) by a fair margin, about 4 seconds faster to charge from a full dump.

Edit: Woohoo! Finally a flashaholic! :D

They're too fat for me to get them in :( Have to stick with the 1650s for one light I've got planned.
