A member at a cat forum posted a question, that IMO, would be great for you guys / gals.

They had surgery done to a feral, who was hit by a car. IMO, considering the high cost of Veterinary care, not many would do this for a feral.

The cat is healing well, but the cat is presently with her son, who lives in a "windowless" basement apartment. She's asking about utilizing SAD lighting in the apartment to help the cat?

I don't know anything about SAD lighting, I'm not sure if Jason's LED A60 Ulta-High CRI light bulb would work for her intended purpose, or even close.. ... LED A60 Light Bulb

TIA for the help / recommendations. The member, and cat thanks you as well.

Btw, I may've posted this thread in the wrong sub-forum. Please feel free to move this thread.

OK, may be this will help ... 🙂 ... Gen-1 M3X and Maelstrom. And an old Mr. Bulk.

Anything else, than a wall-plugged light, makes no sense in such an application...

They could also look for "full spectrum" light, if SAD does not give suitable hits.

Thanks for the response. I did a Google search, and came up with this: The Best Light Therapy Lamps

But I was thinking about (in lieu of a lamp) lighting the room where the cat is located. This was the reason for possibly one of Jason's Ultra-High CRI light bulbs in a lamp with a dimming switch.

Would you think that would work?

:crackup:She is more concerned with the cat being depressed than her son! :crackup:I wonder if she gets any love on Mother's Day!:crackup:Maybe more from the cat than her son!

Yup,
Thats exactly what I am thinking, too.
Typcal "that poor cat" syndrome
🙄

That typed ... the "problem" here is power + runtime.
How should any battery powered "light" makes any use?

Good Thing is: there already is house lighting available.
A normal incan bulb is pretty awesome in simulating the Sun, it just should have some Power.
So, if You (= she, or he, for the Son) can still get 80 or 100 Watt bulbs - just screw one in.
Perfect!
No need for fancy whatever-simulating-lights instead.

Only: Thats for the son in his cave, the cat will immediately leave into a non well lit room...
... and if I understand "feral" correctly, it will leave as soon, as it finds an opportunity to "flee", anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion/s. Appreciate it.

Feral is a general / generic term describing an animal who has little, to no human contact..

In this case, they've been caring for this stray / once feral cat for approximately three years. When the cat got hit by a vehicle, they immediately stepped in, taking the cat to their Veterinarian (they accepted full responsibility for the cost of his care. I'm guessing, around $2K to $3K). Vet ended up doing an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) to his hip joint.

Since this happened, they decided to give this cat, who didn't have one; a home. Due to circumstances, their son is presently keeping the cat with him. But will be moving to a larger apartment in the near future.

IMO, folks like these people, should be commended, and not made fun of.

Thanks again for your suggestions.
