If you can only have ONE light, what will it be?

SureFire C2
- bored for an 18650
- Malkoff M61 LED drop-in
- Z41 tailcap w/ McC2S two-stage switch
- spare Z41 tailcap (kept stock)

This is a tough decision between my LX2 and Nautilus...

But if only one, I guess I would hold onto the Nautilus but I would definitely miss the LX2

Malkoff MD2 Camo. with M61, Hi/ LO Switch. Run on RCR's the Lo. mode benefits from
the higher Voltage with a very useful 30+ Lumens. Everything about this light screams
quality and the transition from spot to spill has to be seen to be believed...Perfection!
:twothumbs

Only one light... If cost was no issue, there is only one choice: SPY Tri-V.
It's a work of art, as well as being 3 lights in one. Sadly I doubt I'll ever have the spare change to buy one :sigh:

I guess an old D-Mini LE that I already have.

I have foward & reverse switches for it, a AAx2 body, an 18650 body & the original CR123 tube + smo & op reflectors.
It can run for days if need be on low with 18650's or use AA's if that is all that is available. It tail stands with the reverse switch in it when it's needed to light up a room with ceiling bounce (power outages).

It's also small enough to carry in a pocket, has great throw & has been the most reliable light I've owned, & best suited for my needs if I had to pick only one. The new D-Mini VX U & all of it's accessory bodies & heads etc would be my pick from the newer lights on the market also.

Of course if someone were to lay off a Tri-V on me I suspect I would have a different first choice😉.

Well, right now my "one light" would be my Ultrafire L2 modified with a Thrunite XP-G R5 3 mode drop-in and modified tail switch (forward clicky). It uses (1) 18650. High 300 lumens/low 3 lumens.

modified tail switch how? is it a stock replacement item, or is there a special mod that I need to bribe out of you?

I'm hard pressed to make any choice but.... If I'm forced to throw away all my lights except one, I think I'll save the Surefire U2 Ultra with Seoul LED. All incans fail due to their fragileness and short run times... although I use incans for 90% of all time I use a flashlight :green:

The U2 has the best UI INHO, has a very wide range of output (an 1:50 ratio, from 2 Lumens to 100 Lumens) and due to that, run time can be as high as 175 hours or... as low as 2 hours.

It has some throw to offer, a splendid beam, and is quite bombproof.
Only disadvantages I can think of in this light is its ugly, blueish color and it is not easy to mod.
Had I chosen the C2 or C3 Centurion I would have had all possibilities of the P60 platform to mod it... if that is legal and does still count for ONE light 😉

LOL, Of course it's legal & counts as only one light... :nana:

One of my Novatacs, at this time I love most the one with K2-mod. Plus one small Cr2-light for backup.

Now, I only took a cursory glance through all 4 pages, but it looks like Henry's designs (HDS, RA, NT) seem to be the favorite. And for good reason! Love them. A little large for a single cell light, but built like a nuclear shelter from the Cold War Era.

However, if I can only have one light, I'm going to cheat and say a light I have no experience with....and only about 20 are currently floating around in the world...

Cool Fall Spy007 Tri-V. This is really 3 lights in one. Aspherical XR-E, MCE flood and XP-G reflector. All in a single-cell sized (2 cell) 123 light. It can be programmed to be .01mA! How long would that last on 2 x 123 batteries? Like my girlfriend from Full Metal Jacket said, "long time". Now, it's not bomb-proof like the RA, but how can you beat 3 lights in one, fully programmable to 14watts of power flowing through 6 LED's? (MCE is really just 4 XR-E LED's, an XP-G and another XR-E). Forget about how much it costs, and just think about the sheer utility of the thing. Rediculous, really.

wquiles Mag 1D w/ nailbender built Direct Drive sst-90 setup used with 4xAA Fivemega holder.

Bright as hell, uses only 4 AA batts, and not much longer than a SF 9p.

But damn you for making me pick an LED. I need at least one incan too.

if i can take only one flashlight. i would still take the Fenix TK11 R5. bright enough for my world...

Jetbeam M1X.

Its innovative head tightened for hi, loosened for lo is very quick and easy to use as opposed to being a preset level from the factory.

Right now I'd have to go with my Surefire E2L. I've got an E1L on the way so we'll see if that replaces it as the ONE that I would narrow it down to. That said, I haven't had the opportunity to get my hands on one of those RA Clicky's everyone is praising, so one of those is next on my list.
