If you can only have ONE light, what will it be?

Surefire L1 Gen6. I swap my lights all the time but always keep coming back to the L1, perfect size, brightness, beam, even the tint isn't bad. Put a F04 diffuser on it and you get a flood light in addition to the throwy TIR. I can't wait for the LX1. :twothumbs

A few months back when I joined and was buying flashlights at a torrid pace trying to find the "holy grail", I found all of the features I desired in the Dereelight C2H. 😎However, the Quark Mini AA with a 14500 is by far my most used light and has somehow become my favorite light and The One I would keep. It is:
-super efficient
-super bright
-has a perfect low mode
-super sleek
-amazingly pocketable
-the perfect size
-has a great twisty action
-well regulated
-inexpensive
-reliable
-has a wonderful beam pattern

Yeah, I could get by with just the Mini AA (on 14500). :twothumbs

Goatee,

I happen to have a 170+ in my pocket.

It is good for finding a route after dark. Keep it on 0.3 until you need to see along a ridge or into a canyon - then burst to light up the mountainside.

Henry.
What's the plus sign mean? 😉

I don't have a Haiku to compare, so from the lights I have in my possession now, I would go for my SPY007 Warm white.
If I didn't have that one, my T1A Titan would be the one.

That would be my L2M with the quad xpg drop-in by vanisledsm. It will be my most powerful pocket rocket ever.

Nitecore D10, or better yet a titanium D10.
I've already stated my reasons here. 🙂
But still on a search for another light to top the D10 as a edc.

Of the few lights I own, I would have to chose my L4. It's small with lots of flood and plenty bright for the everyday tasks I use it for. The L1 is a close second but it's beam is a little tight for close work.

My currently EDC is the legendary HDS B60GT modded.
Not a single failure in everyday use for 3 years now in "real environments"
Wish i had a newer RA clicky though.

Surefire E2 Defender LED

  • "low" beam is useful
  • "high" beam is powerful with good throw
  • pocketclip- useful
  • defender bezel good
  • crenelated tailcap good
  • switch good
  • feels good in your hand
  • for me, just right size

My wife and I each have our own ONE light, as of Saturday... 🙂
Quark AA² Regular XP-G R5 with Energizer Ultimate (L91) lithium primaries.
The incandescent Mini MagLites and 3D MagLite will hang around for backup...
as a last resort!

I'm going with the OP and saying the D10. If I was into CR123 format instead of AA for EDC lights, I suspect I'd be voting for a HDS clicky or SF E1something, but as it is... D10 wins. Tough. Versatile (Ramping version, not the current model), good battery life, tough...

Up until recently I would have said my trusty old Fenix PD20, but I recently got the SureFire E1B Backup and this is an amazing little torch.

So the E1B Backup is edging in front at the moment (maybe until the LX1 arrives).
