I do prefer the Tint of DeDomed 519a, however I only like DeDomed 519a in lights that use a diffusing Tir. I dont know the type of Tir Exceed uses, and have not seen a photo of the beam w DeDomed 519a.would it be better to get the LED de-domed
Ordering a R8 Nichia 519 in stonewashed titanium for Christmas.
Thinking about the reflector version. Also, would it be better to get the LED de-domed (making it a 3900K tint.)?
Im waiting to see what the beam looks like in a Rampant, with a DeDomed 519a, in both a reflector, and with the Tir they use. I hope people will share photos, once they receive their lights.
That's the world's longest 14500 flashlight! Too bad about beam quality, maybe some defuser film will help smooth out artifacts.First post I have seen from someone that has received a Rampant
I am a lighting DIY in HK, I helped my friend make a jewelry lighting fixture this October which required high CRI LEDs. We found a 95+ CRI LEDs from mainland China, which I think is pretty good. What I mean is that as this technology matures, there are more brands to choose from. Some of the other chip options I have considered are:
However the SST40 is tried and true, just not higher CRI like these options. What would most of you all prefer?
- Samsung LH351D 4000K
- Nichia 519A 4500K
- Nichia E21A
Sorry for all the questions...
I know he has tritium slots on his list of 'upgrades' so I'm hoping he will make a new tailcap with slot for us to switch them out.Definitely keeping this flashlight. Surprisingly good throw from the 519A, along with bountiful hotspot. Lightweight gloves make the rocker switch more of a challenge but doable. The middle of the night venturing forth with fully night adapted eyes was ok in the sense the lowest light level was not too glaring, though I am used to a much dimmer light source (switch glow from an Emisar).
Looks like a titanium cover on the switch, very nice. Activating with the side of the thumb joint yields a good momentary. I plan on using this a lot and fully expect the mechanical switch to be long lasting, though can't help wondering if Exceed Designs will come out with a tool to unscrew the internal lock ring and offer replacement switches. So nice that there is no tail cap.
