You saved a lot of money by getting the Thor HID first. It has a great spot and very long run time.

Sometimes I truly need the longer run time.
Reduced heat output is handy in an attic too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mpr.gif

The Newbie mod will be brighter (the HID mod is about 175 watt incandescent, while an overdriven Newbie would be 200-300, my best guess, but check with the source).
Runtime for HID, at 35 watts, or about 45 with ballast losses is about 2 hours. I have to say, that's very useful.

The Newbie boost won't be brighter for very long. It is incandescent, and overdriven incans suck up power remember. After 15-20 minutes, the HID Thor would probably be just as bright because the Newbie boost Thor would be running low on power by that time. Where as, the HID Thor would still have 5/6 its life left!

I use my HID for work because of the advantages it offers.
I want a boost Thor for fun!

A 50 watt dl50 is out of my budget range.
IIRC the boost board can be boosted also, to 3X.
About 7 THOUSAND lumens.
So many ways to have fun.

at 3x the bulb will not last long and degrade pretty fast and might sorta insta flash regardless of soft start.
I still want one for my self
but I will have to put 8 nuts and machine screws in where the bexel screws down on to the thor because the plastic screw holes/threads would wear out after 3 to 5 bulb changes.
