ok this is my first post:wave: on the forum (sorry if its in the wrong category) and thaught it wuold be a good time to introduce myself buy asking lots and lots of questions lol
i am currently at collage studying mechanical engineering and i am no stranger to modding or anything DIY, i am also a laser enthusiast and are a member of LPF.( my latest laser is a MXDL 3W flashlight from DX modded to house a 635nm laser)btw eventhough loving flashlights since a boy the MXDL was my propper first little LED flashlight and it broke my heart to disassemble it becaue it was great lol.
i do own a few flashlights (or torches as they are known in the uk) but nothing worth shouting apart from 2 mag-lite's which i somehow intend to mod, lets face it maglite's are great but the light that they produce standard sucks lol
i have had a quick look around the forum already before i joined and saw quite a few things that caught my eye, any ways here go the questions if they are not clear please do correct me lol.
1. how are the "stubby" or "shorter" maglite's made ? are they cut down and the threads re-tapped ?
2. where can i get info/parts/tips on modding maglite's e.g how to mod, where to buy reflectors, tips on how to make parts?
3. once my knowledge grows i would love to make a HID/halogen mag and i have seen some truely awesome ones on this website.
4. i have a solataier and a mini mag at the moment what are the best mods for those ?
5. how are the burning flashlights made they are pretty awesome!
also are there any websites for purchasing parts e.g reflectors/bulbs/custom parts ??
