I'm thinking about buying the MS18 but don't mind holding off if there's another light coming out soon that's close to or better then the imalent.

Anything bigger or better in the works?

For brightest, that light is hard to beat. For throw, any light with a Luminus SBT-90 Generation 2 l.e.d. (Acebeam K65-GT, Nitecore TM39) should outthrow it. A 500 lumen l.e.p. (Fenix TK30 white laser) will come close. Then there's the Lumitop Thor Pro which is a bright l.e.d. floodlight with an l.e.p. in the center of the beam.

The last thrower I purchased was the Thrunite tn45. I bought it on the tail end of its thrower king rein and was soon surpassed by the next latest greatest. It's hard to keep up with flashlight tech these days.

I don't even try to keep up anymore. Find what works for you and be happy with it. I think my 4400 lumen Nitecore E4K is bright enough for my needs. 20-25 seconds on turbo is about the shortest I can handle to actually be useful for something. If I went with something as bright as an Imalent, it would probably blind everyone in sight, including myself, then it would dim down after a few seconds to prevent overheating. Great to show off, not so useful though for turbo. I don't need the cops investigating what some described as looking like a silent explosion.
