The following is an excerpt from the MahaEnergy 'Imedion' press release:

The Imedion batteries differ from the competition in that they boast a longer lifetime as well as increased power retention under warmer environments.

The Imedion batteries can be recharged for hundreds of times and perform extraordinarily well at elevated temperatures.

In addition, the Imedion's feature a low-impedance design and can deliver a high burst of current.

Thus far, they are the only cell I know of other than the Sony Ready to Use (almost certainly a rebadged Eneloop), to claim an 85% charge retention rate after one year.

They also claim 1000 cycles, a 100 mAh higher capacity, and extraordinary high temperature performance as noted above.

Considering the exceptional reputation of the last battery MahaEnergy released, the PowerEx 2700, could these truly be the first real challenger to the Eneloop...?

I may buy a set just to look good sitting in my grey on black PowerEx MH-C9000.

I'd be interested in how these perform at high discharge rates like at 6+ amps. If they can take a 5C discharge I'm all over it.
As for performance in high heat, I doubt there's any significant difference. But if the company would like to provide actual data to back that claim up, I welcome it.

High temp performance could be a plus for lights left in vehicles and such, but I'd like more definition on that. By itself, the advertising hype saying they "perform extraordinarily well at elevated temperatures" does little to convince me that they have an advantage over Eneloop in this regard. 100 mAh isn't enough for me to get excited, even if it does prove true.

Don't get me wrong, Maha has a well deserved reputation of producing some of the best batteries, but the Eneloops are a proven product and I think that Maha faces an uphill battle to replace them.
