Impact 2?

Whoa.....gotta check this out...I own the Impact but found it too big...got an Attitude, too, but wanted something "Attitude"-sized with Impact throw....voila!.....thanks...

Princeton Tec likes to do the waterproof route. The most reliable way is the twist on/off with tight o-rings. I have a PT Solo (2 AA headlamp) that came with a halogen bulb (talk about a bettery hog). I just got PT's 3 LED module for it (same as in the Matrix), and it is extremely nice (regulated), with a nice beam pattern (decent throw and side lighting). It gets 40 hours of full light from alkalines and 100+ from energizer Lithiums.

From what I see here, I will add the Impact and Impact II to my acquisition list!

Lux there is a plastic pocket clip on the other side of the light with a lanyard hole at the base of the clip.

I have an original Impact that I think is a nice light for the price. Very decent beam, if a bit blue; arguably the 'best' single 5mm LED beam on the market today. I would likely buy an Impact 2, but I just can't get past that butt ugly lime green case. Why not a nuetral smoke grey, or even yellow (not my favorite, but very practical....) but LIME GREEN??? Why oh why did they pick LIME GREEN?

PT really makes some nice lights, but almost all are offered in basic black, at least.

It looks like the cheap plastic picnicware Walmart and Target was selling this spring... took my appetite away in a big hurry.

OK, rant mode off, for the time being, at least...

I`m confused - that one up there is red.

The Attitude comes in that green, also yellow, red and "translucent black" (neutral smoke grey). I would suspect the Impact-2 does too. It`s just a case of finding a dealer who`ll let you pick the case colour.

I hope this light can be modded to LS. If it has both reflector and lense, an LS high dome would really give it some throw.

My tools are out and my mouth is watering. I was gonna wait until EMS stocks them, but I can't take it anymore. Online order will go in tomorrow.

PS. I don't understand the lime-green remarks either. Maybe it's time for a new monitor?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The Impact lens does a great job with a single LED so with an LS the throw should be pretty amazing.

My only concern with modding the Impact 2 would be heat build-up, could this cause problems in an all plastic flashlight ?

x-ray,

If the LS is much overdriven, certainly there's excessive heat build up. I've been using an amber HD in a Rage light, though, running around 400ma with no problems. The amber is rated at 385ma, not 350 like the white, so it's basically being driven to spec. I could probably drive it harder, but it's my only modded one at the moment, and I don't want to take any chances. Plus I don't have a suitably valued resistor on hand to do it.

Moulded clip on the side of the light with a lanyard/split-ring hole. Light comes with a split ring so you can attach the lanyard of your choice.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I got two on the very same day from two different sources. One is ruby red, the other is a deep cobalt blue. I haven't tried the red one yet, but in the blue case version, you can see a SMALL AMOUNT of light coming through the case just behind the bezel. This is much less light than the Attitude spills out, and in my opinion, it isn't bothersome whatsoever. If anything, it lets you know you left it on when you set it face-down someplace. This blue colored backspill is probably 1/4 the brightness (or less) of the blue beacon in the Eternalight X-ray.

I think I understand the lime-green mystery remarks. Brightguy has only lime-green, so if Gandalf was searching that site, he was probably left with this impression.

Also, that light spill from the translucent PT cases is fine as long as its not coming a headlamp. Damn Aurora!

Time to get out the black spray paint. Really, I'm not kidding.
