Ive been looking for a small cheap light to blast throught the night.
And the G&P 35 W HID looks to fit the bill,i havent seen any reviews of this light yet.
Looks similar to the Microfire K3500.But better looking imho.

The question is,does anyone have experience with these and will other bulbs fit that have a better color temp.

the light is sold at various places under diffrent names.

Any help is apriciated.

Re: G&P 35W HID Swap the bulb for better Tint.

There is no easy replacement plan for that class of lights.

But....more importantly, I really couldn't recommend that light Morpheus. There are to many quality issues with G&P HID still and the reputable dealers here won't even carry them. Here is just a tiny piece of a recent G&P story, not to mention all the others.

Another G&P story :shakehead

Re: G&P 35W HID Swap the bulb for better Tint.

Also Morpheus, all those specs listed on DX's site are completely bogus, including lumens, run-time, waterproof rating...It's all nonsense.

How about a nice AE Xenide 25W or something along those lines...? Or even better, how about a used Polarion PH40 or X1....?

Re: G&P 35W HID Swap the bulb for better Tint.

Thanks guys.

I dont believe the specs written so no worries.Ive had the Polarion PH-40 and know what a good light should be.

My primary goal here was to find a cheap host
(somewhat good looking and small)
Maybe it works? It should and ive read some rumors about a new and improved ballast and more reliable light..But no hard facts yet.
The most important for me is beeing able to swap the bulb for something more warm than the stock...ive had the Microfire K2000R(Too cold for me)

Ive read all those threads linked to and i am looking for some more info and experiences.
Sometimes only the bad in a product get said and not so much the good experiences.

Does anyone else have this light ?

Just my faint hope of finding something that can be easy on the wallet and still be impressive.Sort of...
Im pretty amazed that there are so few options out there, seems like the only way to go is the Polarion.
For me it is a little to expensive for a light.IF i had a real need for such a light(Sadly i dont)I would buy the PH-50 in a second.

If the light sucks...surely there must be ways to cram a new ballast and bulb in there without braking the bank....

I dunno.... i still dream of the ultimate Flashlight...that can be had for a resonable price...

Thanks everybody-
Benny

With regards to finding a positive G&P HID experience in CPF, I think the chances are close to zero. Every now and then a guy with 3 posts shows up and asked how to fix their broken one and they always get the same answer....."where did you purchase it?" It's always an Asian seller without any dealer support and they're faced with the fact that they have a $400 chunk of aluminum with no practical way of fixing it.

It sounds like the choices are:

1) Risk the reliability of the G&P and hope it's modable, since there wont be any direct replacement drop in.

2) Purchase the light that's a known factor like the Microfire and perform the same mod that Morepower did.

By the way, the G&P has a much smaller battery than the K3500R and only runs about 40 minutes. They also used to sell for $219 on ebay when first introduced back in Nov. 2007. Obviously the sellers were making a worth while profit even at that price so it tells you something about the overall quality of the light.

You're right though, there really aren't any choices in a compact HID, sub-5000K, and around $400-600. It seems like it could be done if somebody with the resources would do it. MattK at Battery Junction could probably have something like it made, so could AE Light, and I'm surprised they haven't tried to do something about the bulb color issue. Maybe it's only an issue to enthusiasts "in the know."

What exactly did he do?? Any links??

Patriot36 gave you the link to the post I made about modding the MF Warrior to 4100K in his first reply to you. It is ALOT of tedius work and really is not a viable mod IMO. Though it does work and is a much nicer colour it dosn't like to light in cold weather and flickers more than I would like. However once it is warm it lights every time. Put it this way, if you bought it you would probably send it back for a refund. I do wonder though if a "cheap" 4300K bulb would work better, any thoughts about that ? ATM it is using a Phillips 35W bulb.
