Not trying to be the bearer of bad news. Here's one example of what I meant....
Well aware of the recall. In fact, that's the only reason I was able to score one of these mowers. Honda did a massive recall for the camshaft decompressor mechanism. Instead of just recalling certain ones in a group of serial numbers, they recalled them ALL. Cleared out the stores. They were checked out by Honda and were either fixed or sent back to the stores for sale. Mine does NOT fall within the recall. They then released thousands of them back on the market for final sale. You can tell which ones are good by looking for the stake mark on the engine block, the D designation at the end of the model number, i.e., mine is HRX217HYA"D", and the green dot on the box.
Mine has all three and also does not fall within the serial numbers for the recall. These are, in fact, the last of the Honda gas mowers. I feel lucky to get one.
Also, from what I understand, they will not be making engines for mowers or pressure washers for other brands either. But that's just for the U.S. market. Mainly thanks to Commifornia's banning of gas powered lawn equipment.
As I said, it comes with a five-year warranty, which is the longest in the business. I should be happily polluting and making noise for many years to come, lol.
