Incoming - What do you have coming in the mail??

Found a great deal on a titanium Prometheus Alpha, will need to swap the led out. Currently has the 6500k SST20, thinking the 3k SFT40 should make it a beast of a light saber. (wish they made the 3k still 😕)

Came in, love it already.

I have an Acebeam L19 2.0 SFT40 ordered. Looking forward to having a smaller light with nice throw to carry around instead of having to always use my Fenix TK75vnkt if I want more than my usual lights. It's been a while since I bought a new one.

Oh, and I almost forgot - I ordered a Wurkkos H1 as well for charging up phones and such in power outages or when walking around on a long day somewhere (might use my phone maps a lot and consume a lot of battery).

I ordered the latest release at Nitecore ( January 6th 2025 ) the EDC31.

Max Output 3,500 Lumens
Max Beam Distance 380m
Max Beam Intensity 35,630cd
Max Runtime 57 h 0 m
LED NiteLab UHi 20 MAX
Reflector OP
Battery Built-in 3,800mAh 18650 Li-ion Battery
Special Modes LUMIN SHIELD™
Length 113.2mm (4.46")
Head Size 23.0mm (0.91")
Weight 100g (3.53 oz)
Feature Rechargeable

Going to try a Streamlight Microstream USB. On paper it looks like a good compromise between my 1L-1AA and standard Microstream.

I have a Night Reaper Estrela coming from the 'bay. It was cheap as the user reports it no longer works after the last battery change. It just so happens that I have a Thrunite Scorpion V2 at home that works fine except the plastic control ring on the tailcap cracked and fell off. I can't help but notice they are very similarly constructed. I'm thinking due to my combination of CPF skills, namely curiosity, determination, and a penchant for breaking stuff, between the two I'll create at least one working rotary tailcap 18650-powered awesome tactical light. We'll see how that works out. Either way, I'll do a post with the results.

2qt Stanley vacuum bottle to keep my morning coffee toasty.
The one I've been using is better for keeping water cold vs hot. Couple of ice cubes and I have filtered ice water all day. Doesn't work as well for coffee tho'. The lid/cap isn't insulated.

But the classic stanley I know works well for coffee or ice water for a couple of days.

Just snagged another pair of Wurkkos FC11C in orange, 4000K, a Christmas TS10 SG, and some S&M and Large holsters. And a free "Cute Cartoon Duck Soft Touch Silicone LED lamp".

And another FC11C in green, also 4000K, and some small holsters for a friend.

I don't really do 'macro' to any extent, and that has unique challenges (which I'm not experienced enough to address).

That said, when I switch from my 'personal' landscape mode to wildlife mode, those settings always start with / default to 'spot' metering, and 'single central AF point'. Although I then change those (and others) as the situation demands and time permits, those base settings have proven to yield the best results for me as default for wildlife specifically. There often is no time to change those on the fly / demand. (Hot Tip: My camera is also 'persistently' set to 3-frame hi-speed AEB (auto exposure bracketing), as I find that is critical (with digital) for landscape for optimal exposure, and for wildlife shots due to subtle subject motions / changes. That's usually +/- 1/3 stop / EV. Same setting, two different reasons.)

I try not to ask my camera to do anything for me automatically that I know I can do better myself in a given situation if I can easily control it, and I've learned to know the difference. My camera's pretty good, but it can't tell a squirrel from a leaf or branch, and it can't read my mind either;-) I can count the times I've used manual focus on one hand, as if I'm using the camera correctly, it can almost always focus better than my eyes can if I know how to tell it what my primary interest / subject is and what requires the optimal focus. The camera can do things I can't do (as well), and vice versa. "A man's got to know his limitations" (and those of his camera) to work well as a system;-)

I'll be interested in your thoughts and a shot or two after you make friends w/ that new EFS!

As many seemingly extraneous sections as there are here, I thing a general 'photography' subforum or section thereof (or even dedicted thread at least) would be justified. Until then / for lack of such, we'll just post such content ad hoc;-)
Here's a new thread you might like.

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread:
I've turned my sights to wrist watches so no flashlights ordered recently. But I may try some of Lumens Factory's 519 modules later this year. I like what he did for the Pentagon series and may try an E module for an old E1.

I have a Wurkkos FC11C incoming. Testing it out before gifting it to my nephew for camp.
I hope you already have or bought another FC11C for yourself. I tried mine for less than a minute before deciding I wanted another 2 lights of that model. (y)

Just got the FC11C in wow the beam and size are amazing! If the runtimes are as good as the reviews say- I would need to buy a few more of these as you said.
The UI isn't my favorite but its very usable.

I still want a 21700 sized light for jacket/backpack carry but this is pretty good.

I also got a glass lens for my Malkoff'd maglight. I can see a difference from the plastic lens even by daylight.

You mean like a wearable time teller or portable solar clock? Hate to break it to you, bud, but you got scammed. Time is a constant for everybody.

EDIT:
I am joking. Sorry if I came across as rude. Watches are essential. If I don't have mine on me at work, I feel naked.

I think I need to go to bed - I read that last sentence (in the quote) twice, and I still read "I still want a 21700 sized jetpack"...

To not tell you "I told you so", I'll phrase it as a question: "what did I say?". :)

I quite like the UI. For some reason, I find it more intuitive than whatever Fenix is using. Also, by holding the power button for a few seconds from Off, you have a Moonlight mode. I keep thinking "0,5 Lumen must be useless!" - and maybe it is most of the time - but I really like it. Just to have that mode as an option when it's pitch black and you need to get out of a tent or a cabin without disturbing anyone else.

Also, to just stare into the lit LED feels mesmerizing. Not as much as a waterfall or a flame, but I find it relaxing. A good friend of mine insisted on buying a 16 LED Hank DW4 mule off of me, and he says he's just keeping it on a shelf in Moonlight mode. Am considering a custom D4K mule to do the same.

Considering this is in the "General Flashlight Discussion" forum, it is heavily implied that the things coming in the mail, are supposed to be flashlights. I ordered a sheer ton of different items in 2024. Only ever mentioned the flashlights in this thread. As far as the time, yeah it's not something you look at once. A doctor's appointment at 11:00am on a Saturday is far more important than an 11:00am Brunch with your Book Club members on a Sunday. Having a watch helps you show up on time for the important events.

I know. I was joking (hence the part about a "portable solar clock" (sun dial) - one of those where the sun's shadow shows the time).
I need to have my wrist watch with me at work. And I glance at my computer clock dozens of time a day, even when just relaxing.

I have a couple Fenix Silvglow keychain AAA coming in. https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/a-new-stainless-steel-3-mode-aaa-light-from-fenix.486492/
I am oddly excited like its 2007 and Fenix released special Stainless edition NW emitter in their LOP-SE!
Oh wait that is what happened, Fenix finally put a NW emitter in their LOP, wow that took a while.

(I don't actually remember when NW emitters started showing up. I have some early 4-7s and Xeno AA with tint options, I just dug out my old Fenix AAA and its actually a LD01 and oh lord is the beam blue)

Grabbed a Modlite recently and it showed up much sooner than expected. Not sure what I think about it yet, but it's my first purchase in a while.
