I thought I'd post a thread where everyone can share their custom Indium Smart sequence and torch files for others to try.

If you are unfamiliar with this cutting edge flashlight, you need to go to this thread https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/95499&page=1&pp=30

I made a little tutorial for first timers using the information I learned the hard way (I read the f'ing manual when I couldnt get stuff to work! :ohgeez:)
http://lights.chevrofreak.com/Indium/tutorial/

I've also created a few custom sequences that can be used without the need for a .torch file. Simply load the .seq file as described, then you can add it to your own personal cycle if you wish.

Here is one I think should be quite disorienting, it is a strobe that starts at 20ms on 20ms off for 30 repeats, then steps up to 40ms on 40ms off for 20 repeats, then finally to 60ms on 60ms off for 10 repeats, then cycles back to the beginning. I think when the LED is being pulsed at 60+ lumens it should be quite disorienting! http://lights.chevrofreak.com/Indium/Indium_Smart_Profiles/chevrofreak/20TO40TO60REPEATSTROBE.SEQ

Another I made is a simple S.O.S. signal with a 4 second pause between reps. http://lights.chevrofreak.com/Indium/Indium_Smart_Profiles/chevrofreak/SOS.SEQ

A 25hz strobe that is definately hell on the eyes. http://lights.chevrofreak.com/Indium/Indium_Smart_Profiles/chevrofreak/25HZSTROBE.SEQ

A 2% brightness mode for nightlight use, or for navigating your way to the fridge at night while avoiding stepping on the cat. http://lights.chevrofreak.com/Indium/Indium_Smart_Profiles/chevrofreak/2PERCENT.SEQ

Here is a .torch file I made as well.

http://lights.chevrofreak.com/Indium/Indium_Smart_Profiles/chevrofreak/chevrofreak_customattempt2.torch

customattempt2 uses the rear switch as an on/off switch, and when turned to the ON position it returns to the previously used selection. Using the side switch makes it cycle between:

100%
75%
50%
25%
2%
S.O.S.
20to40to60repeatstrobe
then it repeats.

Press and hold the side button and it will jump straight to the custom strobe mode.

You will need to have 2PERCENT.SEQ SOS.SEQ and 20TO40TO60REPEATSTROBE.SEQ loaded in order for the .torch file to work.

The potential and options of this light are awesome. Thanks for posting all this, and the tutorial.

Can't user sequences also be uploaded the angusnoble site? Or is that something planned but not yet done?

I can't wait to get this light!

Yeah stuff can be uploaded to the angusnoble site, but I figured it wouldnt hurt to have a CPF discussion/sharing area too :)

The things that we could come up with by combining ideas are almost limitless.

Cool job Chevrofreak - but the size of those huge downloads is overwhelming even my DSL connection. I mean really - 54 bytes for the 2 percent sequence and then the whopping 107 bytes for 25Hz strobe. I don't know where I'm going to find space on the hard drive either. :D
This is going to be COOL!

I am happy that some people are working with the software for this light. I really don't think it can be fully appreciated for what it is without using it.

Hi

Its nice to see our flashlight has spawned a new thread and there is still a lot of activity! I have been away for a few days and so havn't been able to access the forums.

The angusnoble.com website does have a facility to upload user files, and I would recommend it is used as it provides one central location to find all user files. Of course you can do what you like with your files though! Perhpas users could upload the files to our server and then post links in the forum. It also has the advantage that it rates them by popularity! The url is http://smart.angusnoble.com

The method for loading flashlight configurations described in your tutorial is not strictly necessary as a .torch file should include the sequences in itself, they do not need to be loaded in addition to the .torch file. If this isnt working for you then it is probably a bug in the software, in which case it would be helpful if someone would describe the behaviour exactly as it is occuring at the moment and the version of CC that they are running. Thanks. :)

In the latest software version I have also added the ability to load .torch files simply by clicking on them (as you would to open any other file type).

I hope with the input of people from this forum together we can improve the functionality of this flashlight beyond what has been possible in the past! If someone has any ideas for a particular feature they feel really should be included or changed, perhaps we could start a thread for features/suggestions.

To answer the question about the magnetic fields, it should be as immune as any normal peice of electronic equipment. It doesnt use any magnetic means of storage so dont worry about its memory being wiped. If the magnetic field is relatively constant (like it would be from a permanent magnet or an NMR machine) then there should not really be any effect, only a very strong AC filed should be avoided as this could induce a current in the PCB tracks which would act like little antennas, but still this would require a much stronger field than would ever be normally encountered.

Thanks
Fergus Noble.

Hello Angus.

In time, many threads will get spawned. There will be review threads, and such. Is the nature of CPF...but can start off slow at first. :)

This will be fun.
