It`s big, heavy, lasts forever on one battery and is near enough indestructable! It`s the CMG Infinity. And one of mine recently went through the washing machine

. The ultimate torture test perhaps?
Actually I accidentally left it in the pocket of a pair of jeans and it, er, just got washed! But...even after spending probably an hour or more getting tossed round in the washing machine, dunked in an out of the hot soapy water endless times, it was bone dry inside afterwards and still works perfectly as you can see --> . Plus it was very clean. The only damage was chipped paint round the head. Now I don`t know about you but that`s pretty impressive, eh?

It may be one of the dimmest one-LED lights around but don`t underestimate it- there will still be a home for an Infinity or 4 here even after the imminent arrival of the very impressive looking AAA Arc.

Wow, that's amazing. I just wonder if my new Turtlelite 2 could survive such punishment and still stay waterproof. Just goes to prove, an Infinity is one of the toughest little lights ever made.

If I had regular access to a cheap or free washingmachine I might add this test to my Punishment Zone. Having flashlights go through the wash is a common occurance, and someone should test them this way.

The Turtlelite should do well in the washer though. Mine got flushed down the toilet and it came out fine once I fished it out and cleaned it up.

Well as some of you may or may not have noticed, I`m starting a review section of my new-look web site soon, so I`ll consider testing the appropriate lights this way

if I can, ie those that would accidentally get left in pockets. So probably no Turtlelite in the wash, sorry!
I already have a 2-foot long glass tube (an old Spaghetti storage tube) which I`ll fill up for dunk-tests (no fish tank here and the bathroom washbasin isn`t too deep), so a washing-machine test might be a good one to do as well if they survive a few hours under 2 feet of water first.
I won`t be "punishing" lights much other than that though since most I have to go out and buy myself, and I just can`t bring myself to try and break any knowing the price-tags that accompanied them. Of course I`ll only "wash" and "dunk" lights claimed to be waterproof, for that very reason.

Now lights just showing up here out of the blue.....that`s a different story

.

Keep watching, I expect the first reviews to show up in a couple of weeks. My first priority though, is getting the new structure of the whole site in place.

Hehe. I remember reading about the Toilet incident and believe it or not that influenced me in my decision to go on and buy a Turtlelite II (although I think I was pretty much sold at that point anyway). I doubt there are many lights that could go down the Toilet and not hurt the Toilet or the light.
