INOVA Inforce line Part II

Thank you for the graphic and for the beamshots Chao...much appreciate your work as always :twothumbs

I know the T-SERIES have the graphic and runtime on their packages...do the 6V INFORCE has the graphic too ?
I was wondering if their claimed runtime-regulation looks like yours

INOVA advertises the 6V as having 10hrs+ of runtime, but it seems that less than 4hrs the light runs untill 50% of the initail output.

I looked my package and only said total runtime 10+ hours.

Thanks for the beamshots Chao...and the graph. I am happy to see flat regulation with a 17650 and I do like the beam. Much better than the origional Trios. I ordered a 6v from Brightguy today. Hoping I will like it. (one good thing...their shipping went down to $5) Greg at Brightguy did let me know that they spotted what looked like a inperfection on the reflector...so I might want to wait...but he also said they could not see any flaw in the beam. Because of that I bought one anyway.

I am hoping that the light will simply be a light, rugged backup light. I do like that it SHOULD be water resistant...and has decent runtime since it is only one level. I guess I will find out in a little under a week.

so a 17670 will fit but no 18650 correct??

The surefire seemed to have better flood but the 6v seemed to have better throw. with 2 hours on a 17650 this is deffinately a good light i think.

Does it also use the tiny cree LED?

Yes, the 17670 fits (for AW brand, need tear off the sticker), can not uses 18650.
I can not tell what kind of emitter that behind the TIROS lens, looks like XP-E or Rebel?

mine came with the reflector looking like it slipped down, so that one side was low and the other high. My dealer looked at all his stock after i pointed it out to him. He called Inova, and now all his lights and mine are going back. Interestingly, the beam wasn't weird and had no artifacts to speak of, decent tint, no holes. The action was stiff, as described above.
For 5 hours or so of regulation, it's a rugged light. When they get fixed, I may get another.

I just got my Inforce back from Emissive Energy Corp. I was having problems with my Inforce working intermittenly. I had spoken to Laurie from EEC, who was very helpful and professional, who told me to send my Inforce in to get looked at. I had read it was a tailcap problem and I was surprised that she didnt just send me a new tailcap. Anyway today the UPS guy delivered to me a brand new replacement light. It was not my old one it came shrink wrapped. I kept my OG allen wrench, quick start guide and product reg. card and operating instructions. I noticed a new operating instructions was printed for 2009. The only difference I saw was it was glossy print and the front page had Inforce in white with a red background and Inova special projects div. was removed. Also THE COMPANY. doesnt mention anything about Inova like first one. THE MISSON. is now OUR MISSON. it no longer says," At the request of the DOD to develop the next generation........the Inova Spec. Proj. Div. was formed." The trademark mumbo jumbo was also worded different. I did have an artifact on my old one and I see one on my replacement one it looks like some clear dried epoxy in the inside of the lens. I guess it cannot be perfect. Going to got out and test tonight. Here is a photo.:twothumbs

Looks like mine, I notice that the clip still says 'Inova' like the ones on the Inforce web page, when you go to the Inforce online store, the clips say 'Inforce'.

Maybe Emissive Energy is trying to differentiate the Inova and Inforce brands more now that the lights are in the distribution stream. Or, perhaps the online store photos are of early prototypes.

Someone was complaining here about Henry's spartan product packaging. The Inforce lights are at the other end of the spectrum, the box is almost too nice to be used just for a flashlight :grin2:.

As I wait for my Inforce 6v to arrive tomorrow...I am nervous. I know the reflector will have a "flaw" Greg at Brightguy warned me it would...but that it does not "affect the beam" so I told him to send it anyway. I like Greg... so I trust him. Yet, story after story of these lights show reflector (trios ii) issue after issue. I know that these (6v and 9v) were made to go up against SF g2L and g3L lights. They are priced closely...and for the extra $5..getting a carbon fiber light that should be brighter than the often off tinted P60L G series lights seems like a good deal.

I hope I will be happy with my new Inova... but in all honesty, $75 buys a lot of nice lights these days... Jetbeam, Fenix, Nitecore etc. So while am glad that Ford (USA company metaphor) is going after Chevy "" as Inova goes after SF's market share, part of me wishes they were looking more at what $75 will buy from all their compitition. In this case, i sort of wish Ford went after Honda...not just Chevy.

The tailcap needs a lot of force to be turned. Way too much. Not possible single-handed, even after a gallon of lube. It came bone dry btw. Momentary activation is nice.

.............

In the end, the 6V is a very cute light that feels good in the hand. Unfortunately it has some flaws, and even more unfortunately, mine slipped past QC where it shouldn't have.

It will be relegated to the glovebox once I get tired of just touching it 🙂

For the price, I am not convinced.

My light did not have that big of a flaw:

But it is noticible..and would bother some. The tight tailcap issue we are all having can be solved by finding a spare O-ring (slightly smaller) and exchanging it for the one inova sent... I used one from a Rayovac 3W and now the tailcap has nice resistance without binding, while keeping its water resistance. ( I go into more details in my review here:http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=230233

I like the 6v and I am tempted to pick up the 9v as well... but I have to admit I am giving them a little slack because they are made by Inova...and are American made lights. Had Fenix or Olight made them... I would be a little tougher on them honestly... and thats most likely the saddest statement I have made while being here at cpf. 🙁

woodrow, my "flaw" is bigger than yours 😀, and it also has a glue blob boing from inside to the outside of the lens making some beam artifacts.
I could live with that, but if I add the tailcap friction issue and the indtantly shaved off gold coating of the tailcap contact plate, I am less than impressed with this light, especially given the fat that it comes from someone like Inova.

I still love the X5 though 🙂

Wow. I love my MP-T4 and my old T3 tiros. Sounds like these new ones are way overpriced and have crappy quality. I'll wait until I hear they are sending out lights that work out of the box, have tail caps and switches that can be turned and pressed by an average joe, and reflectors/lenses that aren't messed up.

Too bad, I was thinking of getting an inforce white or one of the new ones with the new tirros. No thanx.

OMG I cannot believe I'm having a problem again with this light. I didnt even get to play eith it. It was working fine after I recieved it back from Emmisive with problems working intermittenly and now a new problem. All I did was take out the batteries and put them back in. I started acting wierd it flashed in a low setting when I put the batteries in and it stopped after a few seconds. Now it wont do that I even tried different batteries. I guess I'll have to re read the entire thread to se if anybody else had this problem. I'm bummed out haven't had problems with my Target Inovas, I'm having second thoughts on getting the 6V now. :thumbsdow

it seems like its just the 6v models that are having the troubles. Anyone have these troubles with the 9v or the color and white models?

Got my Inova inforce color and the only thing I was disappointed with was the lens seems to be made of plastic, you would think a $200+ light would use glass. Just my opinion.

I had problems with my inforce color several times but after my third try all is well. I was having tailcap issues where if i went to click it into constant on white nothing would happen sometimes. talk to Laurie S at Inova and she help you out.
