INOVA Inforce line Part II

woodrow, my "flaw" is bigger than yours 😀, and it also has a glue blob boing from inside to the outside of the lens making some beam artifacts.
I could live with that, but if I add the tailcap friction issue and the indtantly shaved off gold coating of the tailcap contact plate, I am less than impressed with this light, especially given the fat that it comes from someone like Inova.

I still love the X5 though 🙂

Sorry to hear about your ...and everyone else's problems. I like the light, but I feel we are coming to a really sad age, because I am giving it some slack because it is from Inova. (an American made flashlight company) If it were made by Jetbeam, Fenix, Olight etc... I would be much less impressed.

I guess the good thing is that since they do have a life time warranty... you can keep sending it back until they get it right.

Does anyone know...or can someone check if the Inforce white or color (and I would assume the 9V model work with Surefire's beamshapers?

Thanks...

beamshapers? If its a cap or thing that goes over the bezel then you just need to find the diameter of both.

Thanks for the idea, i just tried it with my 6P diffuser and it works with both the color and white model. But for some reason the white model is too tight compared to the color one that fits just right.

Thanks... Hard to believe that the diffuser would fit tighter on one than the other....but I am glad it will work.

sure....

I was wondering if any of the QC issues had been fixed or not. Also I cant remember if it was mentioned or not but I am trying to figure out if they will take rechargeables and what sizes. I thought someone said it will fit a 17650 but not sure if it is sufficient voltage or not.

UPS just dropped off my third Inova 9V White. I noticed that now it says Inforce on the clip instead of Inova as well as having the serial number on clip instead of on body. I will definately not have this light as my shelf queen this is going to see some field work. Hopefuuly they got this one right. Also noticed this one doesn't have any artiflcts (epoxy) inside bezel. I'm not mad at Inova/Emmisive Energy as long as they fix the problem.

I just picked up one of these from tacticalleds.com and completely love it. I think the most significant thing about it is the carbon fiber based material its made out of. This light weighs about half of its aluminum brothers. The material just feels very "right" in your hands both because of the friction of the material and the deep molded ribs. Just holding this light gives one the idea that carbon fiber may be the future of flashlights. The material seems to absorb shocks much better as well. We all know that cringe we feel when one of our lights flies off a table with a solid "BLAM" to the floor. I managed to knock this one off of a table and as I cringed for the mighty clank, it made a "micro thud" instead. I was quite surprised.

The other nice feature of the light is the easy to use interface. To change settings, just rotate the tail cap right or left. In the middle, the light is "locked out". One turn to the right and momentary mode is activated. Another click to the right is constant on. While the tailcap is in the constant on position you click the rear switch on and off to select low/medium/high.

turning the switch back the other direction you select beacon mode and "strobe/make people vomit" mode. Which is quite effective at asking that question "what the f$ck do you want" when an univited guest gets too close.

I'm sorry I dont have runtimes or beamshots for you hardcore flashlight guys, but as long as the light is brighter than my other lights (NiteCore SmartPD D10 R2) I consider it to be a step up.

Oh, and the waterproof "keeper case" the flashlight ships in is hands down the coolest case ever. The only thing that could top it would be a zero haliburton.

Just got a INF-B-W-RGBW BNIB from eBay in an auction for a little over $100 shipped.

It looks and handles just like my earlier INF-B-W and comes in the same nice watertight case. The secondary LED's give a surprisingly uniform flood beam with three levels on each. There is noticeable PWM on all but the high levels of the four small emitters and on the low level of the main emitter. The pushbutton on the switch seems to be just a little easier to actuate than on the earlier light, it may just be wishful thinking.

I took the light over to Germany for the weekend using RCR123's. After recharging the batteries the light would not work, only a flash in the primary white LED and the colored LED's blinked twice when attempting to select them.

A few hours later the same batteries worked fine, probably just overvoltage fresh off the charger that dissipated with time.

One thing remains a weak point in my opinion. After putting the light in a computer case with a couple of cables, the plastic lens of the light was scratched badly after a day of travel and the beam looks like there is water on the lens or something. I'm going to try some Polywatch abrasive polish that I use to restore acrylic watch crystals to see if that helps. The rest of the light is tough as nails judging from my earlier specimen and very lightweight compared to my aluminum lights.

The blue LED is unusually deep in color, probably a royal blue with some UV in the beam. On my Surefire Kroma Mil-Spec the four blue LED's give a horrible overlapping pattern of rings, the INF has a silky smooth beam on all of the small LED's.

These are great lights, just wish the lens was more scratch resistant.

So what's the deal on inova color, was it 200 lumen to begin with, or upgraded, or what? Invoa website still list it as 125 lumen.

Are the tailcap and other problems solved? If I buy it now could I expect a problem free one?

Don't think it was 200 lumens to begin with, it's right about 125 lumens. thankfully i haven't had any tailcap issues in a while, funny thing aobut mine is if though its not meant to have strobe mine does. If you put the selector notch between the constant on and momentary mode for the main led, and rappid click the tailcap i get strobe.

Heh, maybe you got a prototype that was intended to have everything.

Looks like it's still not time to buy yet, going to wait till it's upgraded to 200 like I've read, and all bugs worked out.

I wish there was a 200 lumen I would buy that one.

I think the 125 lumens is a little of an underestimate. Some reviews put it as bright as other "200" lumen lights.
