L1D --> too weak, too much less runtime,
6P Cree/Flupic/18650 --> too large ;)

--> enter the T1
Cree'd (Q2), Flupic'd, 18650'd
:)

freeze popped,
homemade sink made,
Q2 Cree (from Nitroz) placed almost in middle
negative contact fixed (that brass screw)
17 mm reflector (17 XR-E from Shoppe) glued in
sink press fit into body

CONS:

* lenght measured wrong, even the 17 mm reflector was a bit too long, sanded 1 mm away from it.
Unfortunately the 19 mm in the 6P mod gives a bit a better spot

* spring at Flupic sodered in ugly (iron too hot), but it works

* even as my mechanical skills improve, there still are boring errors:
front part wiped immediately after freeze-pop, put into sealed back, never touched.
Light engine put into body (see pic above) with no debrits in reflector at all, epoxied it in. After putting glue in place, took the light to warm place to improve glue --> no debrits in reflector.
After having it rested for some hours, with reflector looking up, never touched in between, there is this whatever down and left on the surface :(
AND
took front part out of its sealed bag, checked it with a light from behind: plain perfectly clean. Took body with other hand, placed front part and body together and then took it to vise to press both together.
After this, there is this white dust particle inside the housing (the one that is above the cree metal ring, the 2nd is outside).
dumb dumb dumb (but no clue what I did wrong) :( :(

totally crazy that I'm a bit disappointed because the 19 mm in the 6P makes a slightliy improved light, even this one is great.

some interesting notes:

my homemade sink did just not fit into the milled "seat" for it. That was planned so, to have it sit better after pressing it in.
But then I placed the engine into the freezer and heated the body with a hot air gun (around 100 deg C)
--> plopped in with no problems
seems both parts changed their size for some 1/10 of a mm. (?)

Not with the front part, that was still a push in, no chance without the vise

:takeit:

I've been looking for something like this for a very long time:D

Let me know if you ever decide to sell it.
Any beamshots?

Great mod!

just a small update:

I 've lost my tailcap while changing the batt in the outdoors lately :(
Asked lighthound (where I got the Inova) if I can puchase a replacement. They could not help me instantly as they were already sold out of this model, thats why I also sent an e-mail to Inova directly.
Just a few days after both enterprises answered, that they will send me one for free (even as it was my fault)!
I told them about that double offer and now get my one cap from lighthound.
Wow, what a customer service, I know where to buy again in the future. :)

if only the new T1 model were a bit (5mm) longer, that a 19 mm would fit, or the T2 were shorter and offered a 1" body diameter :(
;)
