Inova T4 Questions

Hello,

I've just purchased a "used once" 2008 T4 from the BST section on CPF and I have a few questions:

1. I like the flashlight overall, but was disappointed to see that the light didn't appear any brighter than my Surefire U2 (from Dec. 2006) on high. The beam looks exactly the same in every aspect except the tint is better on the T4. Do I have a weak T4? The low beam looks like level 3 of 6 on the U2, while the high beam looks like 6 of 6.

2. I've read that you should only use Inova batteries with the light, but couldn't you use a newer higher capacity battery with it to extend the runtime? The battery inside is a 3.6V 2150 mAh.

Thing is it's good for 2 hours on high and 10 hours on low. I think it's plenty bright. It's advertised @ 175 lumens on high, and mine seems to be just that.

I can't wait for the Pelican 8060 to come out. I love rechargeable lights. Everytime you pick them up they have a full charge.

Your questions are difficult to answer without knowing more. First of all IF you have the newest T4-MP Inova rates it at 175 lumens. The U2 is rated at 100 lumens on high. SureFire rates their lumens differently than most other manufactueres so comparing the two won't give a true or complete story. I have the T4-MP and it is a very bright light, however it does not out throw my SureFire E2DL rated 120 lumens. Also in a ceiling bounce test I also believe the 120 lumen E2DL is brighter than the 175 lumen T4-MP. I don't own a U2 ( I'm waiting on the new ones ) but it would not surprise me if it was a little brighter than the T4, even though it is rated 20 lumens less than the E2DL. But, I would not expect it to be much brighter.

Someone else here my own both and be able to compare theirs also for you.

My 2008 T3-MP is brighter than my U2, although not by a lot. By ceiling bounce test, this U2 was equal in output to a Novatac 120P, which produces 120 lumens.

Since the T4-MP is supposed to be brighter than the T3-MP, I'm surprised that it doesn't look brighter than the U2.

My t4 is brighter than my U2, might depend on the tint. When i got my T4 the tint was a white green so i sent it to Inova & they sent me a new one also cause the switch had a problem.
