purchased light with intentions of modding.

but never did due to those slots. very irritating at night...

If you don't want the light shining through the slots, you can replace the clear plastic tube that holds the lens in with a piece of black plastic. I found a marker pen cap that was the right size. Also if you want a different beam pattern, replace that little magnifying lens with a piece of clear plastic.

I put a 26k white led in mine. Shortly after that the switch died. It turns on but doesn't turn off. No great loss.

CY, what about some glow-epoxy in the slots? Then it'd glow a nice soothing color!! :D

ya, thought about all those things. but lost interest until this thread came up.

looking at the light you would think it takes two AAA instead of one

It is long enough for 2AAA for sure, perhaps someone could take the switch assy out and use two lithium ions in it to drive something.
