hi I got this reply back from Gene.
what do you think?.
can Dot help or someone stateside?.
....the newer 519A 4500k ?...5700k ?

' Hello Darryl, This would probably be something best done through Illumn.com. With a group buy, the group would need to provide the LEDs and would need to be a minimum of 25 ordered.

Gene '

I would guess that moving to an LED that doesn't use the 3535 3-stripe footprint used by the Cree XP family, Nichia 219 family, Luminus SST-20, and a few other parts would require a rather larger group buy than just 25 pieces due to the need for a new PCB design.

So if what you're after is high CRI, that means sticking with Nichia 219 or the warmer Luminus parts

This thread should be moved to the Group Buy or Malkoff subforum.

They already use both the 3000K and 4000K high CRI SST-20 in their warm and neutral variants, so really that leaves the 219 family.

In all honesty, the tint on my MDC AA 4000K SST-20 is pretty great and if they have consistent binning, I don't see a need for a special run. Just my 2 pennies....

Agree Duster, the 219b is the bees knees for quality CRI.

<<< quality CRI >>>

I lament seeing this expression enter into the lexicon of luminosity, but I suppose it was inevitable:-(

I recently asked Gene if he was taking custom group orders and he said no, I wonder what changed?
