If we do this it’s gonna have to be half dedome and half domed or some variation of it because the majority of people I have round up will want Dedomed and if they are all domed we may not have enough guys for the GB, most people will not want to dedome theirselves or take the chances of screwing up a one of a kind module. I certainly would rather a professional dedome it while it’s not inside the reflector regardless how easy it may seem

imo, DeDomed is a Bad Idea

I think if you want a Neutral Tint, you should Not Dedome
and if you want a 4500K Color Temp, you should Not DeDome
and if you want a Phat round, clean hotspot, Do NOT DeDome

If otoh, you want a Warm Orange colored LED, with a small hotspot that lacks a clean round border.. And looks Orange, not pink, DeDome is DeWay to mess up a perfectly good LED..

notice how much Warmer, 1100K lower, the CCT goes after dedoming, in addition to lowering the Tint DUV farther below the BBL

about 4000K..
they drop a LOT, partly because the 5700K are actually about 5200K

the two on the left are 5700K and 5700K DeDomed:

Is there a duv you prefer?

I take it that the Samsung 351 would most likely have a positive duv since it highlights greens and has a shade of green to it?

dotcpf. or PSM for position of GB Master, hey even kerneldrop!.
thanks.

I would do it and handle the financing no problem...create a Jotform to do the ordering and organizing.
The issue for me is packaging and taking it to the post office.

Now if we limited it to 13 people and required 2 dropins.....I MIGHT would do it.
Better yet.... limit it to 9 people and require 3 dropins.
Even better...limit it to 3 people and require 9 dropins.

Jon has the nice comparison photos, thanks. For me I’ve had a few lights swapped with 4500k dedomed to achieve a nice 3500k with a negative duv (more rosy, less green). I don’t want to say it’s a 219 rosy tint (I missed that era) but I’ve replaced a 219b 3500k, a 219c 4000k and a 319a 4000k and prefer the 519a in every case. I’d dial back the red tint just a bit if I could but strongly prefer it to the yellow 219c or the the other 4000k LEDs I had for outdoors at night. First time I’ve had any rosy tint with a warm hue. All 3 in orange peel reflectors.

Let’s be honest here @kerneldrop , the simplest solution would be limit to 1 person (you) and 25 drop ins.

we have different applications, and hence different preferences

trying to get 25 people to buy the same setup is challenging. I suggest you just make up a list of each persons desired LED and dome status.. and let Andy go to town building 25 different LED stars..

instead of seeking concensus, just give everyone their personal choice.

if someguy wants a dedomed 2700K, just give the Wookie What he Wants.. lol

Im bonded with sw45k at -0.0080 to -0.0120

Ok, slider is the real deal. His honesty and positive intent is without question. But like so many reviewers and others, just because your emitter looks a certain way does not mean the same LED won’t be significantly different. In the case of dedoming, who knows how different methods might change results. I am guessing slider did his own dedoming. Emisar did my dedoming. It is on the right of a Banggood Convoy S2+ with the 4500K 519a:

Furthermore, variations in emitters as well as reflectors occur, right?

Here is a comparison of the 4500K 519a on the left, and the smashingly beautiful Samsung in 5000K in THE Fraz Labs qt. (Beautiful for snow walks)
