depends on the reflector
first 3 pics in this SP10 modding tutorial show beam profiles
the domed beam does not look that great to me

otoh, in this Novatac beam profile (2nd to last photo) I consider the domed beam perfect

domed has a larger round hotspot
dedomed has a smaller hotspot

if you like neutral tint, leave the dome on
if you like some rosy tint, take the dome off

if you use the light when daylight adapted, leave the dome on
if you use the light at night, take the dome off

try both.. buy a domed light and a dedomed light, they are cheap from convoy.. then decide ;-)

Dedomed 519a 5000K is superb.
Dedomed 519a 5700K is right there with it.

It’s a nice pure white with zero hint of cool

I do wonder how much of an advantage the 519a will have over the 219b in these drop-ins if they're driven at the same current level.

My impression is that the primary advantage of the 519a is that it can be driven much harder than the 219b.

Any 5amp linear driver will do great with a 519A. Quad 519As do really well with 8amp linear drivers or 2amp boost drivers as well, outputting around 2400 lumens.

Yes 519A being R9080 is the reason why everybody is talking about it right now. It's the first 3535 footprint R9080 led that has as good tint and better output plus power handling than the old SW45K 219B. 519A R9080 5700k dedomed has similar tint and CCT to the famous SW45K, plus better output and throw. Really no reason to use SW45K anymore.

519a 4500k is 30% brighter than sw45k, 519a produces a larger hotspot, and the tint is less pink:

dedoming 519a drops output by 15%

fwiw, Convoy now has many CCT of 519a in stock. They can put them into many different inexpensive hosts, for example the AA/14500 T3

and fwiw, 519a are now available for emissar and noctigon lights
