In the picture of the E2e, Kl1, A2, etc that has been posted here and on the old SureFire board, the A2 is next to an M2, and I noted how long it is, and how most likely it will be a long time until there is a holster available for it from SureFire.
How long after the E2 came out was the V82 available? A year and a half, maybe? Very annoying.
Anyway, while checking a local place for the new Magcharger lamps, I noticed the nicer holsters available from Maglite for their AA Mini Maglite. Not the open top ones that usually come with the Mini Maglite, but the ones with a flap on the holster; they only cost about $4.
I measured my M2, and it is 5.6 in. long. Measuring one of my AA Mini Maglites, it's a little under 5.8 in. long. If the picture is correct in showing that the A2 is almost as tall as the M2, this means that the A2 will be a very decent fit in a holster made for an AA Mini Maglite. While not as well made as the SureFire holsters are, at least we'll have a way to carry an A2, until SureFire makes a holster available for them.
I always carry at least 4 flashlights with me, but the A2, for both lower light, long runtime, plus the full power of an E2e, along with an E2/Kl1, for intermediate light and burn time, may very well be a perfect combination for EDC. The issue of no holster was pretty annoying to me; what's the point of having such an advanced light, if you can't carry it in a convenient way; and on my belt is the method of choice for me.
Perhaps I will have to rethink my earlier decision not to buy an A2... Wish I knew how much they were going to cost.... My guess is at least $125. Time to make some budgeting decisions...
