*UPDATED with PICS* Interesting find at Costco

I piked up a set of RGB light bars from this manufacturer from Costco yesterday.

It came with power supply, 6 plug "hub", 6 LED bars, and a switch controller. You can cycle through preset colors in 3 speeds where the bars brighten/dim between each color, or cycle through colors that softly "blend" from one to the next, or setup the device to cycle based on a microphone.

I setup these above & behind my LCD TV for a very nice and eye pleasing effect of rust/orange by letting it cycle to green/red LEDs with more red. I had to use the "blend" mode since you can't get that orange tint on the cycle where it brightens/dims. Aside from not being able to din the color I want it s neat little idea. It's also neat as accent lighting to let it just cycle on MED or SLOW.

That sounds cool. How about a pic of the package so we can spot it? Pics of the leds? How much was it? Was it in the lighting aisle? SKU #?

Didn't have time yesterday. I'll try for the package. It's already opened. Cost was $49.95 and I'll verify that. Hopefully some pics of the end installation on the way too.

Re: Interesting find at Costco (LED Strip Lights)

I'm looking for some LED Stip-lights and I saw these at Costco too. I took a pic on miPhone but I don't see it, so maybe it got erased. I took like 2 bad pictures (I was trying to eat a Polish Dog at the same time. That's Costco! ) and then 1 good one, so maybe I got over-zealous in my deleting.

Anyway, the good news is that I was looking at the Ikea LED strips, but that's $50 for a 4-pack, and they're not terribly large strips. The Costco one is $50 for 6 strips that are pretty big. I am going to be using them for ambient lighting in a room. Sort of hard to explain, I'll probably have to post a piccy to explain.

But yeah, I searched and only found this thread. Surely somebody else has tried these out...?

I'll have to check for myself... but are these strips "hard." Meaning... can the emitter be reconfigured, or they in a stiff strip that needs to be mounted as-is?

Pretty sure they're plug and play only.

The downfall to that is that I only want white, and these are designed to be colour changing, so I'd get a quasi-white.

The plus side is that you got 6x15" LED Bars for $50, which seems to be pretty good pricing to me.

I found a little thread on it somewhere else on the internet, and those people (It was a home theatre forum, talking about using these to light the edges of a plasma/LCD) seemed to think this was a Costco "here until sold out" item, and there was only 1 left at my Costco, so could be sold out and gone now.

HERE is the link to their forum. There is a picture posted with the item number 202476 and you should be able to use that to ask the Costco people if they ever existed, and if they'll come back in stock ever.

My local Costco in SW Ohio had them last weekend (3/15/2008). I like them. They cycle through different levels/colors in different manners. It does go to a pretty good white. I leave mine on a very soft amber/orange behind my LCD TV. Very soothing to the eyes.

PICS ADDED Interesting find at Costco

OK so I"m waaaaaayyyyy late in posting these but here are some pics of the system. Click for larger pics.

The controller:

The "hub" (their terms):

Light bar of which there are 6:

And the end result. I'm still fiddling with positioning cables, speakers, etc. I tried to take these underexposed but there's too much sunlight coming in to really show off the effect. Later this evening I'll try and take a pic when it gets dark.
