Nice tiny package. MSOP10 is about as small as converters get. The high number of external components is somewhat of a downer though. Your right, the input range is restrictive. The power capacity is also insufficient for a LS IMO, but should work fine for multiple 5mm types.

To me the specs weren't that important. The most interesting part (to me) is that this is a market that semiconductor manufacturers are beginning to target.

Power dissipation for the case was 720mW and no mention of actual drive current. If max dissipation is that high drive current could be quite high. It's possible it could do an LS. Has dimmer functions built in too.

I might try and make a very long runtime LS with 4 AA NiMH cells out of it. If I can get a few that is...
