The ones who are intelligent, don't openly run for public office. They get stupid and loyal individuals to run, finance them to an extreme degree; and once elected, tell them what to say and do. Seriously, how else could such moronic examples of humanity as our public leaders ever possibly win and hold office?

WOW! That really brings home just how old the Stones are! Fantastic animation.
Many years ago I had a car which had a dome light and separate reading lights. I put red theatrical gels in the reading lights and a 1/2 Minus Green gel on the dome light.
At night I'd flip the reading lights on while driving. With the car having a pure white interior, the red lighting looked evil, but it also was functional as well. The extra light kept me alert longer on long night drives, without affecting night vision too much. I did a lot of overnight interstate driving back then, going between jobs, usually after working a 10 hour shift, or sometimes 48-72 hours straight.

Some interesting stuff in the video but it kind of felt like a hit piece on Japan at times and I was a bit surprised at some of the inaccuracies, especially deliberate ones like the one about no one ever talking on the trains.
People do talk on the trains, if they have someone with them, but since most people are on their way to or from work and by themselves, no one to talk to. I used to get in conversations on a regular basis on the trains, sometimes started by total strangers interested in talking to a foreigner.
The whole view of Japan was also taken from the perspective of the outside perspective being correct and the Japanese ways being wrong. Much of the world likes to berate itself for having subjected other cultures to their own ways of thinking, all the while continuing to do so. Ironic is at least one word for it.
Not to do with their prison system. I actually like some of Japan's policies. They have certain types of private services that are incredible.... But would never work here in America due to public mentality.
Am surprised though that total strangers have conversed with you, a foreigner, on the trains. Vast majority of the time, a foreigner sits down, he can expect Japanese citizens on either side of him to get up and move away. Very insulting. Though thankfully that practice seems to be lessening significantly in recent years.

Actually it's never been true and is nothing more than urban legend stuff. I've been all over the country there for years and never had that happen. I've had incidents in Japan, but they've been few compared to the positives and having people start conversations is rare, yet still happens. I have had times on the train where someone noticed how tired I looked and offered me their seat though.
To sum up and explain the Japanese in a few words is likely a lesson in futility, because they're just like us; millions of individuals, who despite sharing a common culture, are still just that, individuals. I couldn't take my best 10 friends there without noting how different they all are, in dreams, views, interactions and even the way they talk.

I was absolutely horrified at the multiplicity of brain-dead decisions by almost everyone capable of saving most, if not all of the victims. Captain was hugely culpable, but company policies led to the ballast being insufficient and vehicles unsecured in the first place.
