Interesting Video Finds Part 4

This guy set up a small laptop-controller radiotelescope to test the transmissivity of aa geodescic dome for radio signals. In the process, his scanning picked up some of the geostationary TV satellites above the equator. This makes the Clarke Belt visible! 😎

Arthur C. Clark, the famous Sci-Fi writer, is credited with creating the idea of geostationary satellites, and thus the belt of satellites around earth's center is named after him.

Wisdom from Steve Allen:
Damn. I did not know this about him, nor did I know that he learned some profound lessons about life and was able to articulate these lessons so well. Thank you for sharing this.

They say that comedy comes from pain. I can see how those experiences in his formative years provided a foundation for his career.

I remember watching this on TV with my girlfriend when it aired in '83 and the realistic & frightening story which still resonates today. I recall the controversy it generated and wanted to watch it again with my wife, but couldn't find it streaming anywhere so I picked up a DVD copy on eBay, and we watched it last night.

Today's scary and uncertain international situation makes for an unsettling viewing experience. Living in a rural area similar to the movie's only added to the realism for us.
I remembered wanting to see this when you first posted the link but it didnt work for me. I just picked this up from the thrift store for $1. I see it is now free on Youtube. Hopefully it will be good.
