Does anyone here own an Invicta watch? I was looking at them today in the mall and they look and feel like a really good watch for the money. I believe the one I was specifically looking at was called the Grand Diver with a blue face. Anyways, I was just wondering if anybody had good/bad experiences with Invicta.

I have one, and just sold another one I had. They are good watches, very good for the money. The one that I still have is one of my favorites.

The company itself is a little odd. They seem to come up with styles that are either copies of another company's design, or styles that are really crazy. And like lots of other watch/jewelry companies, they put very high MSRP prices on their products. For instance the watch that I still have had a price tag on the box of $395, but I paid about $85 for it new.

I have two and as a matter of fact they are copies of Franck Muller chronographs. They work perfectly well and I am satisfied with the purchase.

BTW here in Europe they have a normal MSRP and the dealers stick to it.

My second addiction is watches...I own 5 or 6 invictas and my wife owns 2. We are both very happy with them. They are very well made; I have had several people coment on how nice they are. People won't believe how much you paid for them (and you don't have to tell them.) My diver in particular (stainless with black face and bezel) keeps being mistaken for a Rolex.

I've had a couple automatics and never had any issues with the quality. Some of their "homages" sort of turn me off ethically though. Not like "Cold Steel wanna puke" bad, but bad enough to stay away.

Now that you have our attention, we want pics if / when you get one! :grin2:

Just got possibly the most reviewed invicta out there, the 8926 pro diver s2. It's a rolex copy, good looks, but I'm a little disappointed. Main minuses in my mind, are:

- after subjected to a bright light the markers stay luminous for a while, but you're not going to be able to read it by the middle of the movie.

- the date cyclops is useless

-the bezel is wretched. It sounds like it's grating on sand, and you can push it into the watch body about a mm. Seems flimsy.

Pro: cheap, I think I paid about 80$ shipped from amazon
looks good, timeless design

All in all I think I will return it for the Seiko Monster though. Although twice as much, its still in the realm of affordability, is beefier, domed crystal, solid end links, and glow in the dark that supposed to be great short of a tritium powered watch.

I had thought about actually offering the Monsters as a possible alternative to scubasteve.....you won't be disappointed browntown, Monsters are uber-nice for the pricepoint. If you try Zulu straps, go with a 22mm instead of the 20mm and use a flame to ever so slightly melt the edges where they cross the lugs to make them fit. The slightly wider strap really fits the Monster's aesthetic IMO!
:grin2:
