I have an L2D Q5 but ive been looking into getting a Dereelight as far as brightness and throw is the CL1H V4 going to be alot better or should i just go straight to a DBS?

My brother has the L1D Q5 and I have the CL1H V4 3SD Q5 and mine throws alot further. The CL1H V4 is pocket size while the DBS V2 is not! So if you want throw then go for the DBS V2. But for a good pocket size thrower the CL1H V4 is a good choice. I am very fund of mine :)

The Dereelight CL1H V4 is an excellent choice and is a big improvement on your Fenix L2D Q5. I use mine with a smooth reflector and it throws plenty. It's my go to light for indoor and outdoor use. The DBS is not good for short distances as the hotspot is too small. I get a lot of use out of the smaller Dereelight as it's a true pocket rocket.

DBS V2 not pocketable? :D

The CL1H V4 will have more output than the L2D (more lumens) and will throw farther with either the textured or smooth reflector, but obviously the throw will be better with the smooth reflector.

Roughly the CL1H V4 with a texture reflector should have at least twice the throw, the smooth reflector will have 3-4 times the throw as the L2D. I don't know the exact lux value of the L2D, guessing it's around 2,500 LUX at 1 meter. CL1H will be around 5,500-6,000 with a textured reflector, and 8,000-10,000 with a smooth depending on how well you have it focused.

Thanks for the input, unfortunatly the choice is still hard because i really want both but i'm only 15 so i can't really afford both now, so its just which i will buy first.

Any opinions on the CL1H and DBS for bike light use?

EDIT: Is it worth the R2 upgrade.......i heard in some review that the output drops fast after a couple of minutes.

YES, for an all around headlight the CL1H with an OP reflector I found to be the most useful. Reason: the smooth reflector (and thus, more throw) just doesn't light up the trail/road next to you very well, little things jump out in front of you. If you had a flood light AND the DBS, I could see the combination being alright, but really too much throw just wasn't working for me.

If you use 18650 batteries (I recommend AW protected 18650's for safety, but you should still educate yourself on the proper handling of lithium ion batteries), and the digital Dereelight pills (3SD, 1S, etc) they are regulated and will maintain constant brightness until the battery has dropped in voltage to the point where it will need to be recharged

The R2 won't be that noticeable, but it wouldn't hurt to snag one if you can. If you already had a Q5 it wouldn't be worth it, but if you're starting with nothing, might as well go with the R2 if you can afford the price upgrade.

For a bicycle light, the CL1H for sure, although many like the L2D for a bicycle light as the beam is even floodier than the CL1H, and many people use two L2D's, and run them on NiMH's.

The DBS doesn't really make sense for a bicycle light unless you need to always see what is 600+ feet infront of you.

Thanks guys.......i think i'll go with the CL1H V4 cause its like half the price and more justifiable.

Does anyone have the link to AW's buying area/site/whatever it is?
