Is the Arc AAA still available in natural HAIII or did they switch to black - I am not sure from the web site.

Also, does anyone know what bin GS Arc is using or if they are using ones with tint similar to what Photon is using. I have purchased a couple of Photon lights (Freedons, Photon II, and ReX) and I am very pleased with the progress Nichia has made in the tint. I know there is slight variations in LED's but these are so much less blue than what other 5mm LED's I have seen. I would characterize them has leaning towards more of a pink/yellow than a blue. This gives a more natural light IMO. I would be happy to purchase an Arc GS if it had these.

No idea about their stock right at the moment, but I had an order shipped recently (March 06). Both the AAA-P/GS and AAA UV I got are relatively dark natural HA, despite the "black anodize" note on the web site. The head of my GS is slightly lighter than the body, my UV is a very uniform dark natural anodize.

It is taking longer than I originally projected. We did get a small test lot back of natural that looked good and we are expanding on that process. However, it will take awhile for it to work through our parts inventory. Also, I am hestitant to say we have licked the problem quite yet. I want to see more batches that look good.

For now, it doesn't hurt to email us and request a particular color for your order. If we have it, we will try to get it to you.

Thanks Orlac. So it would appear that since this post was in July that the natural HAIII is now available.

I know some people complain about slight color mismatch with natural HAIII, but I would rather have a slight mismatch natural than black. Natural hides nicks and scratches better than black. Even a tiny nick is very noticable in black and a tiny scratch or nick is usually unavoidable.

Opps - I just posted before seeing your response Peter. OK - I can do that. BTW, I have followed the creation of the very first Arc AAA and purchased one when they first came out - still have it although it has some issues. I also purchased the first introduction of the "premium" model in natural HAIII when it came out. I have been a follower of CPF since the very beginning even though my membership only shows 2006. I still remember waiting for the first Arc to go on sale.

What I like about the Arc AAA is that it is made absolutely as small as possible for the AAA cell it uses. It just vanishes in your pocket and does not provide unecessary bulk for a light that you can have with you all the time. The GS gives it an amazing useful amount of light and balance of runtime. I guess I am just restating what its initial design goal was. Even after all the fancy lights to come out I am looking to turn full circle and get another Arc AAA.
