Is it safe to use AW RCR123 cells in LED Surefires?

I am just wondering if it is safe to use RCR123 cells in surefire flashlights? Mainly an E2L outdoorsman. Thanks.

Yes, ok with the older KL1 head that can run with 3-9 volts safely. It is buck/boost. I have had two and they ran just fine with no noticeable difference in output using 2XCR123, and 2XRCR123, which I tested using bounce with a lightmeter.

The KL1 isn't the most modern (KX1 and KX2 has superseded it), but it is one of Surefire's best with an input range of 3-9v. Hang onto that one...

Thanks for the replies. And i do plan on keeping this one, I really didnt know what i was getting when i bid on it(on ebay, I won it for $66), But i like it alot. It sure is bright for only 33lm.

The coolest part is if you can find a 3 cell body, it will happily run on 2xAA or 3x123.
