Is Surefire getting ready to release a Beast III?

All I know is, they have taken off everything on their website about the Beast 2. I even had a hard time searching for the HellFighter. I wonder why they don't put those two lights front and center like a Ford GT in the showroom of a dealership.

I don't know if I can afford one in the near future but I'd like to. I think I'm more in the market for a 500 lumen M6 of theirs, but anyhow, it is always interesting to keep up on what they are putting out.

I could not locate anything either. I would say ur money is better spent on a Polarian. Im sure they will release a new one sooner or later just as all companies do year after year but at that price I dont see many applications that a Polarian could not meet.

I find it hard to believe that Surefire which is a household name could not engineer an affordable tactical HID similar to the Microfire line? They have been in this game for well over a decade:thumbsdow.

Rumors are that Polarian will be releasing a 30w this year. When? Who knows? Apparently its top secret:banghead:. It should be a nice piece tho that I will surely be adding to my collection.

There was talk of a Mini-Beast some while ago, but as with anything like that, it was all... just... talk...

Another possible reason could be that they've run out of Beast IIs, following Seery & LondonLad buying up their entire stock, lol

Most manufacturers will keep new products under wraps until they are ready to release them - that is totally normal procedure, even if it can be frustrating sometimes.

The Mini Beast is "supposedly" due out spring/summer this year, although, as with all new Surefires, thi should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Would you mind sharing your source with us? A military SF rep told me
there are no current plans for release of a Mini-beast and that it never
made it past prototyping.

If they do release one I'm first in line though. :naughty:

The Beast II just started shipping November 2007. These are built to order
and SF is currently 9-14 months backordered.

I heard it third hand from a SF dealer. Im also fairly skeptical about its status, but ill keep hassling him for more info.

Given the length of the backorder for the Beast 2, its highly unlikely theyre preparing another HID light for release, but PK always likes to keep us guessing..

Ill post in this thread as soon as i get any updates.

I'd definitely be interested in the minibeast so long as the price was in the region of $1000-2000. I can't see that happening though. The new 30w polarion could also be interesting. I'm hoping that both of these lights are like better quality versions of the microfire 3500 with faster startup and warmer colour temperature.

The MiniBeast is the one light to die for IMHO. Unfortunately this will be exactly what will happen, as my wife would kill me should I buy one. I am shuddering when thinking of the price.
If it ever makes it to market.

Well, I do have two Microfire HIDs ... and believe me ... you do not want SF to produce a light like that. It is a funny and cheap toy, but for anything serious can be considered a POS.

Bernie,

I have a 3500 along with a Boxer24 and I agree that they are not even remotely in the same league with Surefire products. However, they are remarkably small and relatively handy to belt-mount (even the 3500) and both are comfortably shaped, at least for my average size hands. If they were to eventually be equipped with 4200K bulbs and have "instant-strike" capability I believe they would be outstanding lights for the price, though still not comparable to Surefire and other first quality HID lights

I find myself carrying and using that little Boxer quite often. It's comparable in size to the Tigerlight though with a bigger head, and actually weighs less than the Tigerlight.

I never thought I'd get into HIDs and used to think they were for compulsively-obsessed brightness fanatics. I guess I've become one myself.

Hey Norm, the MF HIDs aren't bad lights per se, but I would not want my life or safety depending on one of those. I don't know the WE Boxer Series though.

When I am going to *need* a light, it won't be a MF HID, despite their brightness and small size.

Some interesting points of view... From my perspective -
1) No SureFire product release date is set in stone. Written in the sand on the beach with the waves washing in and out may seem more appropriate sometimes.

2) Speculation prior to SHOT Show gives way to speculation following SHOT Show - Are SureFire actually going to release the new products, and if so when, and if so will they be anything like the proto-type samples exhibited at the show?
