Lost my Rc-G2 at work this week. :(

It's been a while since i bought it.

Does the RC-G2 still hold the title of best bang for the buck 1AA thrower?

if not what is?

You can't go wrong with the RC-G2 Q5 if that is the one you had before.

Pretty much. The hugsby lights and tanks are also quite well regarded but I think the rc-g2 is still the top dog for that price.

Are the ones from DX pretty decent? Thinking about ordering a few just for the heck-of-it. $11.99 each sounds like a pretty good deal.

They're not bad, but I wasn't really satisfied with the brightness. I'd buy the upgraded shiningbeam ones if you can part with the extra few dollars.

I think these might still be the best 1xAA budget throwers, unless you count the flood to throw aspheric jobbies.

DX shows the emitter as being an XR-C now. If so it's a step back from what you had. The Shiningbeam variant becomes an even better deal for the higher price if that's the reality.

I've sworn off DX/KD after they failed to deliver my order after 1 year.

+1 Shinningbeam verison maybe a little more expensive, but I've never heard of them falling through.

I agree

You can get an iTP A2 for the same money.
Now that's what I call a nice single AA torch ... I have two , plus two iTP A3s which are on my keyrings ... The A2s are my EDC pocket torches and are clipped into any pocket with a flap ... The only reason that I say "with a flap" is that I just don't trust any torch clips since I nearly lost my Trustfire F20 ... I didn't realise that the car seat-belt had pulled it out ... Luckily I found it between the seat and the car door ... The F20 used to be my EDC till I had the iTP A2s.

Is the ITP a good thrower?

True, but I wouldn't consider the iTP A2 any kind of thrower, which is what the OP was asking about. Great lights though, I have an iTP A3 on my keychain.

I'm sorry about that. I really care about my lights, would hate if I lost one. From those I own, RC-G2 and Fenix L1T v2.0 are the most reliable, the best cost/benefit ratio. I think that, yes, another RC-G2 (now with Q5) it's your best option.
