Is there a dictionary or guide for newbies?

XPG, XRE, ROP, everything is an acronym or some sort. I have no idea what anything means.

Also is there a breakdown of all the manufacturers? For example is there a general description letting me know Surefire is a high end light that cost a lot, that 4seven is a mid to high end light for a decent price and that (insert name) is too expensive or not a value compared to (insert other name)?
