Hi all, have owned an E01 probably since shortly after they became available. Lately, i have found that for the light to turn on, i need to really tighten the head all the way and even when tightened all the way, it sometimes flickers, is there something wrong with it?

It used to be that it would sort of flicker when you tightened the head till full but i never had to tighten it so hard to get it to turn on. I dont use it so often so i dont think it can be wear and tear right?

Also, when using alkalines (duracell usually) i sometimes find it hard to twist the head and when i remove the head, there is a soft but audible 'pop' sound. Would that be some gas leakage of some sort?

Is there still a spring in the bottom of the battery tube?

1. Yeah, there is a spring at the bottom of the tube.

2. Figured that was the case, dumped the alkaline, cleaned the contacts and put in an energizer lithium, works fine but i still have to really tighten the head all the way and really exert some force on it.

I have to tighten mine a tiny bit (so that it is definitely "on", rather than just "nearly there") more than I used to, but it's no biggy- not like I'm torquing down the head. I got mine about the same time as yours.

If you got it from 7777, then it's got a lifetime warranty which you should probably think about making use of...
