is this normral for hid to this is my first one

I perchased a 35 watt hid lite 2 weeks ago and now when u turn it on it has a bright orange and bluish flash for about a sec then it warms up and it want do it again till u let it cool down and turn it bak bak on jusr does it during warm up but hasnt been doing it should I take it nak or is this normral ty please excuse my ignorants on this ty

I think that is called the "Hot Strike" that is necessary to ionize some of the salts and gasses inside the tube so the arc between the two contact points begins. Then the higher pulse "hot strike" current reduces to its standard ballast regulated output, and the rest of the salts and gasses has enough going on to finish ionizing into the full HID bulb output.

If I don't have this exactly right, someone more knowledgeable than me can correct it.
