Looks suspiciously like a Nordic...not that it really matters

I'm trying to expand the range of optional metal flashlights for modders. Or at least for myself, since I may be going into my first mod soon, and something with an on-off switch simplifies the installation I would think, since no fragile circuit-board/LS-mounting would have to deal with the typical MiniMag twist-on/off mechanism.

Plus this light's only about 7 bucks.

That light itself seems OK, but the tailcap looks really unreliable to me. I would be surprised if it lasted for 25 cycles. (The cdnninvestments offering)

Could be wrong, just judging from the picture.

I bought several of the Nordic 2AA lights, and I've found the switches less than reliable. One switch failed completely, one flickers a lot of the time, and the third will work great...but sometimes you have to turn it on and off a few times. YMMV, but while I like the idea of the side switch (compared to the Mini Maglite switch) the Nordic 2AA switch design must be a pretty bad one. I've seen in some other posts that Nordic has gone out of business, (and the 2AA switch design could be a contributing factor) and these lights were all aver eBay late last summer. I didn't pay enough for the lights to bother to return them, but I'd proceed with caution.
On another note, I bought a 2C Nordic light, and I like it a *lot*. Basically a very well made 2C Maglite copy, but significantly smaller (and less expensive off eBAy, of course). Good glove compartment light, and cheap enough to be disposable. I wish I had bought a few more of them, when they were so cheap.

Thanks for all the replies, I checked with a few modders who all replied the head was too small for an LS to fit properly anyway.

But now the 2C...

Did you read the post on how to fix the switch? Seems a simple fault...

quote:
Peel off the rubber switch cover and put to the side. At the bottom of the plastic switch assembly you will notice a small metal tab that hooks over the brass at the very bottom of sw assm. It may not be in solid contact (tab to brass). I think that the rubber cover holds it in place to the brass but sometimes not enough. You can test this by pressing the tab with your finger towards the brass. If the light comes on steady thats the problem as was the case in mine. With a small pointy thing (back off darell) push the tab closer to the base. That should do it. If not, I will dab a spot of solder on the brass base. Reassemble. You might want to us a small bit of oil or talc powder to ease the rubber cover on.
Sorry this is so long but I did not want to leave out some small detail that maybe necessary.

My switch was slightly different but I was able to clean the area out and get it working better than new. Don't know exactly how yours is but on mine I discovered (and just verified) that if you take off the cap, take out the bulbs, push on the power switch and then push down on where the bulbs normally are the switch assembly will slide out...

If you attempt to fix it, good luck! That is to say hope it works for you too.
