Is this worth modding?

Is this worth buying and modding and is it capable of running with out making magic smoke? Is this a good cree led?

or is this one better? This one for sure comes with a cree because some1 said so in the review: Other Thoughts: I must have got a nice unit, the Cree is nice and white bright and the LED's are just on the warm yellow side of white (versus bluish). http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12275

I read a few reviews on some of the other lights and it said on this page that instead of a cree they gave them a luxon: Cons: Not CREE, emitter was Luxon

Depends what you need.
Quality - they are probably the same weak construction (may or may not be a problem)
Battery - one has 3xAAA(smaller/lighter package) the other has 4xAA (longer runtime and/or brighter)
What are you modding it to? Cree P4 to R2 or MC-E?

I bought a 4AA headlamp once. The thing was so heavy on my forehead I ended up throwing it away.

I got a $5 dollar one at walmart last night the 7 led 5mm kind. I figure that it's the best way to mod something and not lose to much cash. I just want the case and tear out the insides and change it over to a cree of some sort.
