Yes , I had to buy it ! If this is a Chinese Morakniv ? I really had to buy it . I have a Garberg , ( Real Deal ) . So there was little choice .
I am a Mora Fan Boy ! ( Though sometimes I don't sound like one ) . Mora's are incredibly average knives for very little money in some places , and overpriced in other places ( cough cough Oz ) . So the two options are ? Kansbol and Garberg ? I went ( I think ) with the one that looks like a Garberg .
I guess it had to happen . Those replicating C ( words ) . Oh dear !

$44 Oz Bananas to my door with GST ! ....
I don't think I own any really good 12c27n . It's all ............................ so average or worse !
14c28n how ever . I have some really nice 14c28n .
I'm looking forward to seeing if I flushed $$ or not !

If this is a Chinese Mora , it will most likely be CrMov off some flavor !
Butt ! & it's a huge butt ... If it's well cooked CrMov it might impress ? ( Maybe )

It's here .. And it is very hard , seriously hard to call this knife a fake .
The box looks genuine ..
As does the knife ..
Butt & it's a huge butt !
The scandi edge is ......................................... not Morakniv . ( To me )
Unless they have changed the way they grind their edges .
Also there is a distinct secondary bevel . Morakniv does a micro bevel to the best of my knowledge and not a secondary bevel .
So the grind on the scandi edge looks nothing like a normal Morakniv machined edge . Otherwise it's a dead ringer !

Small update !
just spent two hours on the Diamond Plates removing the bevel ... Knife is full scandi now .

320 grit / 600 grit / 1000 grit / 2000 grit & 3000 grit ..

See you at the rope !

Sorry to hear it was fake. I don't own a current Garberg to compare, but would agree the secondary bevel is not characteristic of Morakniv. Hopefully it is still a decent tempered piece of mystery steel that will serve as a beater knife.

It was a 1/3 or 1/4 the cost of a real Garberg . Depending on how much you want to pay !
it's full scandi now , so ? Be interesting to see how it goes on the rope .
Just checked the weather radar and lots of rain on the way ..

It is conceivable that they source from China and do final QC and edge grinding in house.
In which case, those would just be the same product w/o Mora QC, grind, and warranty.

Just a thought.
There is more of that going on than most people realize. It is absolutely ubiquitous.

Also, enjoy it while it lasts. W/ things in China going the way they are, these "Golden Years" of Chinese manufacturing on the cheap don't look long for this world.

Aaaaaargh ... Watch the video ..
The belt loop on the sheath is fake leather .
And Morakniv has never blackened a SS blade to my knowledge .
And then there is the price ...
Has Morakniv moved production to China ? Was this part of a test batch ?
Yeah , I have no insider knowledge regarding any plausible reasons .
But , it looks like it is most likely a Chinese made Garberg . ( A plausible conclusion )

Well, a good amount of moras are under $20. So the price definitely is not a giveaway. The rest is though.

I don't know who garberg is I was talking about moraniv. But last companion i bought was around $20. Nice knife

I looked it up. Geez. They've really gotten above themselves charging that much for one of their knives.

Yeah , Garberg used to be the Premium Morakniv knife until about a year ago or so when they brought out a more Woke series of knives at even higher cost . If your going to charge more for a knife (?) then perhaps give the user a better knife ? ( Maybe ? )
Or just charge more for less !

Put to the rope !

450 slice fail ... Which is rather good for full scandi !
I did notice a little bit of roughness on the blade ( apex still too thin ) , but decided to slice rope anyway ! & where did the edge fail ? That's right , at the thinnest part that I point out at the start of the video .
For full scandi , that is excellent performance . Considering that MY SCANDI edges begin to fail at 200 slices depending on the amount of effort put into the edge . Butt ....... The scandi strops back 99% of the time very easily due to the fail being a rolled edge ! And the same thing happened again = A very easy strop back .

Value index is right around 10c a slice in this test . Price divided by performance !

Bushcrafty ...
The spine is crisp (just) enough to scrape wood . And it throws ferro very well .
Scraping wood did not damage the blade coating , but the ferro rod definitely did wear out the finish on the edge .

Just because a fake looks like the original it doesn't mean the original is made in China. They put a tremendous amount of effort into cosmetically duplicating the name brands. You can get a $20 knockoff of a $1000 custom knife that even the maker has a hard time identifying without destructive testing.

Mora is a town in Sweden and several knife manufacturers were based in that town .
The knives they made were called Mora Knives .. One company was even using the name mora as a brand name .
If mem serves there was a take over and Morakniv was born .
Morakniv is made in Sweden .

Will this continue to be the case ? So far , I'm calling this one a Chinese Clone .

The USA brands that have moved production to China , those knives might be leaking out of the factories to Chinese retail sites . Why clone something when all you have to do is back door it ?

I look forward to hearing from Morakniv ...
