The self proclaimed Worlds Largest Cornmaze just opened up in Dixon CA.

Last year it got wiped out by an early soaking windy storm. The year before I was able to partake with my lovely Wife. We, or I went for firepower the night we went. I used an M6 w/MN15 LA and my wife used an L2. It was tremendous fun but I really want to enjoy the spookiness this year and will dial down the lumens. I was thinking of perhaps an E2e w/MN02 LA or an L1 for me. I am going to take the nieces and nephews this year as my kids are only 2 and 3 and it will be after their bedtime.

Depending on the turnout I am planning on outfitting them with a stock E1e, E2L with a single stage KX2, L2, and a few Tikka headlamps. I will strap on a single stage E2DL as my spotter light. And I will bring lots of batteries. I shall consider bringing some MC-E "flood lights," as in a Malkoff endowed C3 or a modded KL4.

Just maybe I will bring my M6 with an M3 bezel and MN10 just in case! I love the "Sea Cucumber!"

What are your Maze Craze lights this year?!

probably my surefire e2dl quark ww and my pd 20 and maybe my tk 12 ta 21 or maelstrom g5 or surefire 6p led too many to choose from:shrug: .I might just take them all:thumbsup:

Could you please explain the use of a flashlight when in a cornmaze? I've never done one, but it seems like flood would be useful and throw would be a waste.

This year we hope to make it to a few non scary night mazes asI dont want to terrify the two youngest. I was thinking a few quarks, my TK40, a sst90, and few sst50's for for firepower if needed:naughty: plus spare batteries, hell Iam also taking my 26 watt hid in case the zombies attack or should I put my L35 in my backpack?? (They are BOTH going)
Might as well take 10 or so torches to cover all bases:whistle:
I know...its called "shock and awe" :D

They are open after dark! Flood is probably more useful as you don't get many straight runs to illuminate. Do a Google search for corn mazes in your neck of the woods!

I don't know what I will take in the corn mazes here this year. Probably my 6PL Defender with Thrunite 3 mode drop in.

I will, however, almost certainly bring my Fenix TK12 to the haunted houses and blast that strobe inside.

I am 38 and 10 at heart. We are affectionately known in the neighborhood and surrounding blocks as "The cool parents". :D

Great thread. Forgot how much fun that this sounds like. I found a 33 acre maze about an hour outside of the city. Probably head there over the weekend. I am sure my little guys will have a great time. Have to decide what lights to bring...

Regards.

Man I would love to go, but it will take me 6+ hrs just to get there.

I don't have much lumen power, I only got a P100A2, MiNI AA, E01, and a Romisen G2 w/ R2 WG. I guess that's good enough. hahaha

Yep... too far and can't even find one around here that's open past 4 p.m, even less one that is not themed just for kids. ... Guess I'll have to stick with the trails

I'm heading out to long Island, NY.next Saturday to Fink's Farm, they always have a cornmaze. I'll check to see if it is open after dark. :grin2:

You guys are so lucky, cornmazes sound like awesome fun. I would take some real low powered lights, like old school incans, or eo1's, or MiniCR2's on low only or something to keep the spooky really up there, and maybe an M60W MC-E for that floody goodness... plus a bright sst-50/90 based light.

But yeah, I wanna go!

My local cornmaze is the scary type with chainsaw zombies and whatnot...sooo im gonna try to keep it lights off unless i feel the need to blast a particular zombie or two with the ole' 6p with an ssc p7 drop in

I just came from the local corn maze here. Only 5 acres but well designed with lots of dead ends and misleading turns only one way in and one way out. The larger corn mazes tend to have simpler designs with fewer dead ends and a "rescue border" Basically if you get lost just head in one direction and you reach the edge, this border leads directly to the exit.

I brought two lights my Aurora SH-00270 modded with a 1 amp driver and my Trustfire TR-801. My girlfriend and I spent one hour in the maze, it was the first day of opening so it wasn't heavily crowded yet. And the corn wasn't fully grown, no large ears. Good because as these mazes get older they get even harder to find your way among really tall corn that can obscure your view of the sky.

Both of our lights were on the whole time. Ran into a few people, usual mag and generic 9 led jobbies but saw one other with a generic 3xAAA with an power led with ugly tint my guess is a luxeon-type. You did not want to get caught with a dead flashlight since it was pitch black. It was a fun but quite a few bugs made it annoying.
