Jet II Pro IBS vs. Dereelight C2H - your thoughts?

For my next light (I don't really NEED any more lights, but you know how it goes) ;) ADDING Nitecore EX10 to the equation...

So... right now I'm torn between the Jet II Pro, Dereelight C2H with warm 5A emitter and OP reflector, and NiteCore EX10.

I definitely want the ability to have a very low low and a bright high (all of these lights will do this); prefer 1*RCR123 rechargeable; not overly throwy... I want good spill light. Tailstand ability isn't a make it or break it deal as I have other lights to do such things. And I do prefer forward clickie w/momentary.

The C2H will tail stand and has a forward clicky. The Jet II Pro has a reverse clicky but can be replaced with a forward, but won't tail stand in either event.

I like the modular/versatility of the C2H with the various options you can choose when ordering and upgrading later.

I like the quality and features and IBS of Jet Beam lights (have a Jet III M which I am incredibly impressed with). Don't have any Dereelights nor Nitecores yet.

Any thoughts on the choice between these three lights?

Jet-II IBS - Throwiest light in it's class so it doesn't really make much sense if you're looking for something "not overly throwy"

C2H - Circuit efficiency and heat management leave something to be desired in my book.

EX10 - Wouldn't say it has a bright high for a 1xCR123 light. No momentary

If you like your Jet-III M, I think you'd be happier with a Nitecore Extreme R2 over any of these choices.

I have all three.
I love my EX10 and my Jet II:twothumbs
I hate the C2H:thumbsdow
My EX10 is the GD version and has a wonderfully smooth, almost warm beam. It also has a super low that comes in handy for night time reading.
The Jet has a great user interface, has a good low, but not as low as the EX10, and has a very bright, tight beam on high. The best throw of all my CR123 size lights.
The C2H has an ugly, ringy beam even with the OP reflector. Mine has a cold, bluish tint. The tailswitch is very stiff and there are a pair of sharp points on the end of the tube that jab my thumb every time I use it. Well, it used to jab me, before I took a file to it. The user interface is irritating. I just don't like lights with fixed levels and memory that wakes up in the last mode it was running when it was turned off. I prefer that it always come on in the same mode, and that I get to chose that mode. That's why I like the Jet IBS user interface so much.

Thanks for the input.

I'm wondering if I put an OP (orange peel) reflector in the Jet II Pro whether that will give nice spill in addition to the throw. I don't mind the Jet II being throwy, but what I dislike is the tendency of some throwy lights (like some of the TIR equipped Surefires) to be too focused... and have minimal spill light. I like a bit more of a balance between the central beam and the peripheral beam. Can I get that with the OP reflector in the Jet II?

I'm hoping for more discussion on these, but from what you guys have said, looks like it may come down to a choice between a NiteCore Extreme and the Jet II Pro... hmmmmmm.

The Jet II has a very tight hotspot for a small 123 cell light, but it's not like the beam from a true throw light, like a Raidfire Spear. You'll still have a wide, bright fill with a Jet II.
I just aimed my Jet II and my Nitecore EX10GD against the wall and the spill is about the same, but slightly brighter from the Jetbeam.
I have a Non pro Jetbeam Jet II IBS, but I believe the Pro has a slightly smaller reflector and a bit less tight beam.

For something with a much sweeter beam and user interface consider looking at the Liteflux LF3XT - a light many consider to be what the EX10 should have been in terms of the UI and some other ways. I've also got all 3 of these plus the LF3XT. For throw and extreme brightness the Jet II IBS is hard to beat but it's runtime isn't that good. For an overall light that's easy to use I'd go for the LF3XT or EX10. The LF3XT has 2 user interfaces - one simple and one more featured. It's one of the only Cree XR-E based lights with a really smooth beam due to it's special reflector contruction. It also has a switch similar to the Nitecore Smart PD in function although it is different internally in design. The C2H is very bright for a very small light but I don't care for the stiff switch, the slippery outside and the lack of a reall low.

For those familiar with the Surefire E1B (which has the TIR optic)... that's the kind of focused, narrow, lowspill output that I don't want... I already have that! ;) So if the spill of the Jet II is brighter and perhaps wider than the E1B, I would like that. I know not to expect the Jet II to be floody.

I'm pretty much decided on going with the Jet II or Jet II Pro. The focusable head of the Jet II will allow for more floody/spill, so I may choose that model. And I love the Jet IBS programmable interface.... it's magnificent.

Oh my friend, the LF3XT is one of my very favorite lights for sure! And I agree with many who consider the beam of the LF3XT to be incredible. It seems that "throwing" is the main focus of so many lights these days, but when you see a beam like the LF3XT has, you wish more lights were more like that! So I've got that end covered nicely. As I said, I don't NEED another light (just ask my wife!) :shakehead But there's something about the Jet II that's just calling my name and I don't know how much longer I can hold out!

Jet II IBS is an exciting light and one I think any good collector would like to have. EX10 is also a light I wouldn't give up but as I mentioned I think the LF3XT is everything the EX10 is and a lot more and better in a number of ways and in the very same price range. I'd have to say the LF3XT is about the most exciting light to come along in quite a while and it's similar enough to an EX10 that if you haven't looked at it you will be doing yourself a favor if you check it out. It's MCU controlled forward clicky and will also do momentary. And it tailstands.

Guess I was still trying to sell you on the LF3XT when you already had that one  If you have that then I'd suggest the Jet II IBS. BTW check your PM's.

For my next light (I don't really NEED any more lights, but you know how it goes) ;)

I'm in a similar situation ... have the Deree, but am dissatisfied with the stiff clicky and poor regulation at the highest level. That being said, I like Deree's modular concept, and Alan is a competent and conscientious company rep ... so I hope them the best (I have 3 other Derees).

BUT ... I am looking for a new EDC fitting the criteria stated by Dhart, with the addition of the beautiful tint of a Q2 or Q3 emitter.

Either I have a severe light addiction problem, or I'm getting to the age where a warm flood is almost as good as sex.
Come to think of it, before I discovered this forum, my clickie DID use to be a bit stiffer.

Hmmm..I ordered the C2H and it should be here this week. I opted for the C2H because it is one of the brightest small RCR123A lights ..but the posts in this thread have me worried!

Things i did not like about the C2H but still ordered one anyway...

1: thumb groove
2: needs another mode between the 30% high and 100% turbo
3: no momentary on... sux
4: shorter runtime than others

But i still ordered it because of the 200+ lumens:rolleyes:

Is the button really all that hard to press?

If you mean the C2H, it does have a momentary. To me the button is not that hard to click on. A bit harder than a Fenix, doesn't feel that positive, sorta mushy.

Ok..I'm not a Flashaholic so maybe the light will be fine...I woulda loved to have a jet beam but no small RCR123A options.

FYI, the clip from EX10 fits very nicely on Jet II IBS. Also, it does tailstands with a low profile rubber boot. Good luck!

Not true, just unscrew the cap a bit and BAM, there's your momentary, at least if it's anything like my D10.

The clip is a deal breaker, for me, or rather lack thereof for the LF3XT. Otherwise, I'd EDC it. Does anyone have any suggestions for a solid clip for it? I'd prefer one that attaches solidly.

Runtime on both are pretty bad, but C2H's discharge curve is simply atrocious.

Hang on. The EX10 clip is attached with 2 small screws and the Jet II Pro clip is pressed in. How can the EX10 clip fit the Jet?

It's a hack workaround that converts the light into momentary only and disables constant on. Not nearly the same thing as true forward clicky with momentary on that OP requested.
