I know most of the JetBeams, especially the PRO models are throwers. But does the Jet-III Pro IBS has enough spill for closer range usage? As a comparison......I've owned an L1 before and it doesn't have enough spill to be practical. On the other hand...my G2L and 6PL has lots of spill for close range work. And my Fenix's are somewhere in between.

Is the Jet-III Pro IBS's amount of spill comparable more to a L1 or a 6PL? I am assuming is has less than a Fenix L2D or P3D. Is this assumption wrong?

At around 30% brightness, the Jet-III Pro has about the same spill and spot brightness as my L2D Q5 does on turbo. This spot is tighter on the Jet-III at about half the size of the L2D, and the beam in general is a bit tighter as well. Technically I guess that means it actually has more spill than spot in comparison, as the spot is smaller.

If you want a looser spot, get the Jet-II with its adjustable spot size. With about one twist out from the tightest setting, the spot and spill pretty much match the L2D, the only real difference being the slightly tighter beam at about 80% as wide as the L2D. In regards to adjusting the spot size on the Jet-II, it has a threaded retaining collar that backs up against the head to allow it to lock in that position.

Im also interested in this light....unfortunately, there isnt much info about it. The size of it looks great, and the UI seems to be a plus.

This is my 2nd JetBeam, the first was a CL-E V2. But this Jet III is awesome! Once you get used to the UI it's so easy.

I just pulled out my Jet III and compared it to my Q2 bin Cree drop-in for the Surefire 6P, but the Jet III is MUCH brighter. The diameter of the spill seems to be almost exactly the same on both, but like I stated before, the Jet III is much brighter. And of course, the diameter of the hotspot seems about the same too, but the Jet III wins there too by a large margin too. I think it is a well built light with a functional interface in a relatively compact size (for an 18650 cell light) with excellent throw and spill. A great value too at the Bug Out Gear introductory price. I really like mine and am considering getting another one because it seems to be a good general house light or outdoor light (fishing/camping) since you can pre-adjust light levels to suit your needs. It seems to have decent run times on the 18650 cell too.

The Jet III has a smaller spill than my P2D Q5 on turbo and Dereelight CL1H V3 (3SD) on high. The hotspot is also smaller but much brighter.

Spill is pretty similar to the Regal WT1 though again, the hotspot is brighter. I like the JET III very much and I think it will usurp the CL1H as my favourite. The only thing I don't like about it is the bezel up clip.

do you guys know if these runtimes stated are relatively correct?

Output & Runtime:

Default Mode A Output: 180 Lumen, for 135min

I did a pretty unscientifc test yesterday while working...

Used a not fully charged 18650 (used the light a bit playing around over several days with it prior to the test).

Set the light on the output setting represented by the 50% level by the flashing during the setting ramp.

Light stayed on for 135 minutes.

Guessing fully charged cells would have added maybe 15 more minutes.

thanks for the info. Do you think you could do that same test on 100% with a fully charged battery? Just this simple number would be immensely helpful to know.

50% would mean about 112.5 lumens right?
And you only got 135 minutes?

I would think that a fully charged battery at the level of output would yield much more than 15 minutes...no?

Thanks for the test!

Might be able to do that, but can't give a timeframe.
If I do it, I'll probably cool it with a fan as one of the things I want to do with this light is try using it as a bike light.

Do you know if the clip is easily removable?

Run time @ 100% with AW 2200 mAh P18650, charged in Pila IBC to 4.195V rested 24h: 1:17 to 50% (low voltage cutoff @ 3V), using a fan for cooling during testing, 24C ambient. This particular cell has been charged twice previously.
