sorry for asking since y'all are the experts im sure this is an easy question. whats the difference between lumens and candle power? and which one do i want? i want something for spotlighting animals that come in my yard(50 acres) and for when i go out hunting in the field. ive looked at a black and decker 3335 20mill cp 9 pound rechargeable but amazon wont ship to apo ae addresses for certain items, then as i kewp looking i found some nice flashlights with lumens ratings and i wonder if im looking for the wrong thing now. please help

Candlepower, Candela, Lumens & Watts are all used (amongst others) to measure/rate the output of lighting devices throughout the world (primarily we use Watts in Oz)...

10 ~ 15 Million candlepower should be MORE than adequate for your spotlighting needs... but just in case it isn't there's always Vector's 20 Million CP spotlight!

Lumens are a measure of overall output, whereas lux and candlepower are a measure of the intensity of the center of the beam. Therefore, a SureFire L1 will have more "candlepower" than a SureFire L4 even though the L4 pumps out more lumens.

You've got the right idea with the spotlight. What's your budget?

basically unlimited budget, my only problem being i tried to buy the twenty cp from amazon but they dont ship it to apo ae addresses, im in germany and apparently amazon doesnt like that for some items

What about size and battery?
Modded or Stock?
LED, HID or Incan?

LED, the Dereelight DBS is one of the best LED throwers(200+ meters on a dark area), the WiseLED Tactical Seoul version would also be a good thrower.

HIDs are usually over $200 but have the most output. Maybe the Warrior III.

Incans would have short runtime and usually be big and heavy(unless you like to modify a maglite to a 100+ watt monster that lasts about 15 minutes max).

Unlimited budget...

My choice would probably be the Maxabeam or beg RA to build another Maxablaster.

I'd try to grab a Vector Power on Board HID spotlight.

They show up in Marketplace every so often.

any comments on the cylops thor x colossus 18 cp spotlight? im trying to stay with rechargeable(in a perfect world dual voltage 110-220, not an issue)preferrably under twenty pounds, trying to stay close to 100 but 150 dollars would be ok, and heres a dream i had, spotlighting a 5x6 window late at night from about 100 yards away and filling a 10x10 room with the equivilant light of day
