Not doing advertising here for DX.
But DX has just introduced a new VB-16 in silver finish with HA-III coating and a Q5 for $30.

I don't really need it but i couldnt resist, I've hear wonders of the quality and value for money of the VB-16 and wanted to try it myself, specialy since the silver finish seems to be less prone to scratches showing due to the scratches being the same color.

What do you think?

I'll try to post some info when i get it, it still hasn't shipped.

Always like the VB-16's interface.
Straight forward buttons for increasing and decreasing output without half-pressing or cycling thru all flavours strobes.

Good buy buddha buddy! :D

It looks like KD also has two new lights...and just slightly less. The info on KD says that these have forward clickies...where DX says that the - button is also used to turn off the light (I wonder if that's correct). KD says the SSC version is U-bin, but this isn't specified on DX. DX says the CREE version is Q5, but this isn't specified on KD.

Well, I just ordered these two lights from DX to see how they compare.

Cool Yenster!
Pls do report back. Ihave asked several times to see if anyone has compared the cree vs SSC version but never had a reply. Looking forward to your assessment!

I have the "previous" Cree (P4) VB-16 from DX. It came with an OP reflector - the beam is just slightly ringy (not much) but it still outthrows Waion's "generation 4" VB-16 (the one that has an SSC emitter and a red button for strobe and SOS). Those two lights are about equally bright at both the lowest and highest levels. The Cree tint is cooler than that of the SSC version. Despite the claim that the "down" button turns off the light, it does not - you must turn it off using the forward :D clicky tailcap button. That means no current draw when it is off. The light remembers the latest level used and comes on again in that level. Excellent ergonomics and overall design.

I also sprang for the Q5 version immediately.

You know; the same thought goes through my mind on each purchase!:)

12 step, don't need no 12 step, I got no flashlight problem!:nana:

The Titan and NiteCore Defender are getting a lot of attention for the "infinite" brightness levels, but it seems to me that 16 levels provide essentially the same utility. The main difference is the method of changing the brightness either by twisting or using the up-down buttons. Both the NiteCore and new VB-16 have HAIII and Q5 emitters, but I prefer an 18650 Li-battery over an AA. It seems that all of my AA/14500 lights get warm rather quickly while the 18650 lights have better heat dissipation and provide much better run time. Lastly, the Titan is $500, the NiteCore is $60 (and going up), and the VB-16 is $30. I just hope its reasonably well made.

... 'DelayExtreme'. ...

:lolsign: ... you got it.

I had ordered a VB16 on Nov. 8th and the status is still "processing", although it had already the status "packaged" some days ago. I guess this will be one of the 4-5 weeks "special experiences" with DX. At least the chances are good that it gets here till christmas, unless it takes not more than the usual week between "shipped" and departure from HK ;) ...

I have a SSC (from the pakedge with dbs charger and 16340 Lion). Bright eaysy to control with low low I like it. The Q5 is on the way.

well i thought it was funny that nobody else used the phrase "delayextreme" before while al the time i read this forum i hear about dealextreme not shipping on time.

so if i started something feel free to spread the word.

if they start speeding up shipping we can always change it to realextreme

I just ordered one myself too. I have had good experience with DX in that I usually get my orders in about 8-10 days after ordering.
