I'm using a 6cell Numstar Xenon amd I really like the output , especially the throw. Not fond of the artifacts , though .
Are there any better bulbs for more brightness -better beam ?

No poof...also try a KPR12 cheap from your local hardware store.

I found that the 5 cell krypton was whiter than the magnum star bulbs...
Next try sticking two 18650s in there!

To get rid of the artifacts you need some level of orange peel

I did a search on 2c mods and most of the threads are fairly old . I just wondered if some new bulbs might have emerged . But with led technology seemingly at the forefront these days , there probably isn't much new incan bulb tech .

What brand/size of pvc tubing did you use to fit the batteries?

I'm always interested in Mag mods that can run on both rechargeables and primaries when you need more runtime.

Re: the artifacts - go to your local hobby lobby or whatever you have like it and buy armour etch (glass etch). Give your bulb a 15 minute dip and the artifacts will be gone (or GREATLY reduced).

I used a section of automotive car heater hose , cut to 2C length , then slit lengthwise and 1/4 -1/2 " slot cut out lengthwise to fit internal diameter of Mag .

ROP LO works fine with 3 primary CR123, 2x18500 or 2x18650 in 2C M*g.
It is obvious that you will get longest run time, best performance and low operation cost in long term by 2x18650

Hmmm... I didn't know it would run on primaries.

Jack - Yes! The KPR112 for the 3x123 mod. KPR113 for a 2x123.

Thanks for the memory boost!

Neither did I (of all people!)..... not that I have ever needed to test that configuration :p

But I should have realized it would work. Surefire high-power lamps routinely pull 2 amps from CR123s. The ROP 3854-Low bulb is a 2 amp device.

P91 is a 2.4 Amp bulb and runs about 20 minutes on primaries while ROP LO is about 2 Amps and will run little longer.
Not many people know about that because of high cost operation, so it is not popular.
However, brightest and practical form of 2C M*g is 2 protected 18650 with WA1111

O.K. so I put in the 5 cell numstar and it's whiter and brighter .
I have decided to keep the bulb unfrosted to maximize output because I primarily use this light for throwing anyway . It's nice to have a high CRI thrower for checking out things 100 yards away . My backyard is 200 feet deep and i get a ~4' circle of bright light at the fence line .

Thanks for all of the advice .
