My E2e just came and I love it!

Just like any overcurious idiot, I promptly checked the brightness by shining the light into my own eye. I'm only now recovering my vision!

I just have one question. The threads don't seem very smooth. What can I use to lube the threads?

Thread lube can be via Vaseline in the simplest (but in the long run, petroleum based lubes may degrade the O-rings), or I use a silicone fluid from my R/C car days. Radio Shack also sells silicone grease (which is clear and won't stain clothes...to bad).

Actually, I don't think they are suppose to be really smooth, but if you clean the threads off and then re-lube them it will make the action smoother. I wouldn't bother unless it's a real problem, you don't want it to turn too easily.

As far as what type of lube to use, I don't know.

BTW I have found that the silicone lube that comes in the aerosol can works the best on my lights. I don't know, however, if it breaks down the o-rings over time. I don't think it should. The silicone "grease" tends to retard movement the part that is lubed, but the thinner aerosol
stuff doesn't.

Also, what do those letters and numbers in your user-name stand for?

Dive shops sell silicone grease, and as I'm sure you know their o-rings have to withstand pressures up to 4000-5000 psi over long periods of time underwater, in sunlight, in sea air, etc. I used it for years to lube my high-pressure SCUBA-filled airguns with absolutely no ill effects...

j/k

I suppose it shouldn't move too easily. I guess I won't worry about it for now.

But I love this thing, that is sure enough!!!

Also, roughly how long will the bulb last? Where can I find cheap replacements?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Replacements aren´t cheap, but the bulb is supposed to last quite long.

BTW I know what your name means, we´ll see if you deserve it well.

I'm pretty new to high performance flashlights, but I'm always willing to learn. Maybe I'll post the story behind my name in "THE CAFÉ" sometime.

I think most everyone has shone a bright light in their eyes once. It's how many times one repeats this that reveals alot about them.

I warned my friends not to look at that end of my lights. I warned them but the day I got my Arc AAA my best friend is over here and I toss it at him and what's the first thing he does?? Blind himself!

Oh well

it was fun to watch.

Most of the people I work with now know not to do the eye shine. They very properly shine it on a desk.
On my desk...SF 6P USA edition
In my desk...6AA dbl brl, 8AA dbl brl
In car at work..SF E2e, Ultra Stinger, Inova X5T, SF 6P silver edition.
In my pocket...Arc-LE with Glow Ring.
Guess who they come to for a light!!!

Darell would be proud about going off topic.

The FM23 is the IR BeamFilter for the SureFire Millennium TurboHeads.

Under normal daylight conditions (and in lit buildings), it is very difficult to tell that the SureFire is switch on, but you can feel the heat of the beam.

I have no experience with SureFire IR BeamFilters (other then those I tried out at the SS2002) It would be interesting to see how well they work with NVG, and whether dark-adapted eyes can see the beams. There's semi-covert, covert, and ultra-covert filters sold by other companies. Which version SureFire IR Filters are, I don't know. I assume covert-to-ultra-covert...?
