Just recieved the jetbeam military , hmmm a few quirks i need help to decide?

Well im a newbie and this is my first higher price light purchase , it is very cool and now i can see why everyone including selfbilt had great things to say about it ,, boy it is bright as hek and it is cool to see it on low mode in the bedroom, the low is great (i think it would defintely scare a intruder for sure) and put some dots in his eyes, it did me , lol

ok the only quirk is , i wanted the warmer tint and got the colder one , more bright white , with a slight hue to the spill ,, i know bugout would trade it for me but im wondering what would the difference be , i would want it to throw about the same and be bright but i would rather have a more natural color , could someone help me make the decision on that please ?

Unless there's something on the packaging that specifies what tint you got, you may just be interpreting the tint to be cool - the best way is to compare it directly to a range of different lights.

HI, it does say that it is the colder tint one ,, it also has a ding in the ss bezel(im sure flavio will fix this for me) but , i just dont want to get the warm tint and it be dull looking compared to this one is all

My JetBeam Military had even colouration from the head to the tail. It was one of the original Q5's. You do get slight differences in the colours of each component but that is a huge difference. Couple that with the fact that yours also has a ding in the bezel, I would send it back and get a warmer tint at the same time.

I'm not sure that either problem would be enough for me to send it back, but I might at least send an email pointing out your minor disappointment. QC seems a bit lacking, and they should know that you know. And they should also know you are a member here at CPF. I suspect many vendors value our good graces.

They will probably want you to send it back, but maybe you'll be able to wait until the replacement comes, and then decide which is better for you. That's the least they should do.

Some people say that the warmer tint looks dimmer than a bright Q5 style tint. I personally prefer the warmer tint emitters and these now take up the bulk of my meagre collection!

However, if I was after maximum throw in a Jetbeam Military, I would stick with the Q5 as it will look and be brighter.

P.S. I would not be happy with the black head on a grey body - that doesn't look right to me (certainly doesn't look like the lights pictured on the website).

The dint in the bezel you mentioned is also not acceptable. That would be reason enough for me to return the light for a replacement.

HI Jimmy, thanks for your input,, its not necessarily throw ,, which how i decipher is how long the beam will go right?,, this thing beams out/throws way more than i expected ,, i guess i want the same brightness but just not so whitish/purplish hue and in the dark it is only white , i only see a hint of purplish hue when kitchen ligh in the house is on ,, but i guess it looks like say i candlestick it in my bedroom total darkness , it lights up the room sort of like its not real light , or like im in a hospital hall or something or a morge or something like that feeling , hard to explain i guess, lmao

If that's how you feel about the tint, I would definately return it for a warmer tint. I feel the same way about blue/purple tint lights - they are old news to me.

The warm tint lights are both easier on the eyes and render colours better.

Go for it, you will not be disappointed in a modern warm tint led light.

The mismatched ano and ding in the bezel is plenty of reason to return it, whatever the tint. You could request that for the inconvenience Flavio pick you the replacement with the warmest tint

well i certainly appreciate your views on this and i have sent flavio a email , and from what i read about him , he is a stand up guy and will make me happy,, he should because i like to buy things , lol besides the only reason i bought it from him is because u guys ,, and also he is in the usa

i could have saved a few dollars else where but for me i will spend a little more to get service

I would definitely send it back. A mismatch of color like that on a $90 light! I would also think twice about the warmer tint (Q3-5A) I received a jetbeam element with that tint and was very disappointed in the level of output on high. It was far less than any other jetbeam light I have. That may not be the case with the light you have but a warmer tint does tend to look less bright when compared to a cooler tint. It may be that my light has a problem - it is no where close to 120 lumens as claimed.

The warm tint has plenty of output, and the outdoor color rendition seems to be more accurate than cooler tints, but this becomes a personal matter, IMHO.

The head on mine is slightly darker than the body, which is true for most of the pictures I've seen, but it is NOT as dramatic a difference as what is shown in your picture.

do u have the warmer tint in this ? and if not and u have the one i have does yours have a ever so slightly hue to it ?

im also considering i may keep it because the head is different and could be a one of a kind piece, lol

btw flavio says i can return it , he can send me a new bezel or if i want a refund i can do that to, so it is a win win for me , now i have to make the decision
