Anyone know of something similar or an online seller of tailcap springs?
I check KD every so often and they have never had them in stock, sold out.
UK is best but will look overseas if i have to... thanks.

They've been sold out for a while now. I thought that cutting the original Mag spring would be an easy task, but I thought wrong, boy are those springs tough. I put pliers in a vice and still was unsuccessful in cutting the spring. Quite annoying, because I could really use a shorter spring.

Large diagonal cutters, e.g., cutters with say a 6" or 8" handle, work well to cut down a Mag spring.

Another simple source for M@G sized tail springs is the lowly "D" cell light sold in any "dollar" store. I've bought them for as little as $1.99. Spring is more than adequate for M@G mods and easier to cut down. And you get [sometimes] a decent metal reflector for future projects.

I personally use two pliers to force a repeatedly force a bend at the spot I am trying to "cut." It always snaps right off for me after a few times.

I've certainly found it to be easier method than using a dremel cutting disk or the like.
Hope that helps,

Metal fatigue certainly is one way to break the spring. IMO, however, it might be a hassle to use that method to cut certain D Mag springs at the top where the coils are tightly in contact with each other. With diagonal cutters, you get the cutting edges in place, squeeze, and you're done.

I may have found a few spring suppliers in the uk so should be ok. Yep the mag spring is pretty tough. On my last modded mag i managed to liberate a spring from a cheapie 2d no-name flashlight, was a lot easier to bend etc than the mag spring.
Trouble is now i need a few more...

Cut mine with a Dremel and a cut off wheel, only takes just a few seconds for it to cut through it. If you want it gold use some of this, but I personally just solder a wire from the top of the spring to the bottom to reduce resistance.
